Well there goes the top class in WEC. You need at least two manufacturers to run a championship and with Porsche gone, it just leaves Toyota. Hopefully this opens the doors for the DPi cars that run in IMSA to now enter at LeMans...that would draw a lot more American fans.

VAG is reeling from all the crooked shit they've been doing for years and finally got caught for.. it's not surprising everything and anything to do with not making cars is going away.

Was Toyota on the verge of beating them with their LMP car?
Toyota should have won LeMans in 2016 but crapped the bed with some type of electrical issue in the last couple of minutes. They were comfortably in the lead and then lost all power. Porsche passed them and won. This year all their cars crapped out much earlier. They have been pretty snake bitten. I can't imagine Toyota continuing with this program now that Porsche is going away.

At least they won Le Mans for the last 3 years. They'll be back. Now I'll be watching more of the GT class of the race.

I couldn't care less about the upside down bathtubs racing each other. I only watch for the GT class.
I'd like to see a BOP free GT class. Basically a class limited by displacement and not power. Let the manufacturers take their gloves off much like in LMP1 and just let them try to one up each other. LeMans should be about the cars, not the drivers.

That sucks. LMP1 are the most impressive cars in motorsports IMO.

I would love to see the DPi cars at Le Mans. Give GM a chance to win overall, and maybe slap an Ecoboost in one with the generic body work and let Ford try to win overall as well.

Agreed 1,000%
Toyota was to LeMans as Honda is to F1 in that race. It was hard to watch.

not at my post...
Porsche has had success as an engine supplier with three titles.

True; but it was also 30+ years ago. I don't know if Porsche has the passion for F1. They have hinted at coming back before and nothing ever happened. Maybe they will dip their toes in the water as an engine supplier first, then proceed if they see success. FWIW I do think it would great to have another bonified constructor join F1.

I read that Porsche maybe headed to F1.

Would love to see that. No German besides Mercedes has been successful in F1.
They were successful with McLaren in 1984, 1985, and 1986 winning the driver championships 3 years in a row and the constructor championship 2 years in a row in both 84, and 85 with a couple of nobodys.
Alain Prost and Niki Lauda.
In 84 they only won 12/16 races.
Just because its before your time doesn't mean it didn't happen.
