I'm looking to upgrade the blower on my 14. Current mods are FRPP Mono, JLT 127, ARH 1 7/8 Lts and Hi flow catted H, FRPP 3.73'S and a Lund tune. I'm looking @ upgrading to one of the following
1) Ported Trinity
2) VMP Gen 2
3) VMP GEN R
4) 2.9 Whipple
5) 2.8 Kenne Bell

My goal is to make safe efficient power, I eventually plan to add cams most likely L&M NSR but possibly JDM if the budget allows. I know the TVS platform is a little powerhouse so is it worth going w/ one of the larger Whipple or Kenne Bell's if I don't plan to build the motor?

What fuel do you intend to run? How much boost? If you're just looking to run 93 and 18 psi, the TVS should make all the boost you need. Some of the bigger blowers don't make as much boost in the lower rpm range, so torque output is lower on a stock engine on pump gas. You'd probably need to spin the TVS a little harder to make the same level of boost with cams or running E85 or both. Would make one of the bigger blowers more desirable then. Unless you got cash burning a hole in your wallet, you might want to wait and see what the TVS 2650 does. It's liable to flood the market with G2s and G2Rs when it debuts.

Currently running 93 but there is a gas station near me now offering E-85 so that's a possibility down the line. I definitely have time before I purchase, I currently have a buyer for my stock blower who is making payments giving me plenty of time to shop around and find a deal.

The 2.9 is good for 1000+. The 2.3 is not on a street build. Depends on what the goals for the car is.

Car is my DD and will most likely never see the track, which is why I'm looking for safe, efficient and reliable power. Overall just looking for a fun to drive street car, I plan on keeping the car so I'm sure I'll continue to build as funds allow.

If you are a car show only guy, definitely get the Whipple or KB.

If you plan to race it, stay with the stock supercharger for now and if you must upgrade, get the 2.65 this winter.

Wait for TVS2650 late this year or early spring.
Wish there was more out on it as VMP really is the only player unless the next GT500 uses it or Roush changes to 2650s in their offerings.
Still you said you don't want to build the motor, so a stock blower or Gen2R can support 800-900rwhp.

I went with the 2.8LC KB for my 12, while my 14 SS came with the 3.6LC. I think I chose the wrong one for my 12, but the upgrades from KB are reasonable for the Supercharger alone.

As it's been stated, buy once and be done. The bling factor on the polished case helps if you'll be showing the car.

The stock blower can support enough power to put the stock bottom end at risk.

Why upgrade?

Main reason I want to upgrade is to get a better flowing more efficient blower that will make more HP without having to pulley down and spin the crap out if it. From what I 've seen in the market place it should only cost me an extra $500-$800 to upgrade once I sell mine, which is less than sending my stock blower to be ported and I'll avoid the car being down for an extended period of time.

If you're looking to upgrade now, go with the Gen2R. If you're willing to wait the 2650 TVS is an option. I heard from a very reliable source that it won't be available for at least a year. Will not be out this fall as many were hoping.

BJ is making 929 hp with a Gen 2R at 18psi with L&M NSR cams on E75, FWIW.
Yep, I was able to make 943rwhp SAE also peak of 18psi with JDM cams and it's at the shop now since the ice tank for some extra tuning.
Want to see what ice and the PMAS 149 kit vs my JLT 155 back to back does.
Point is the 2.3 TVS can perform well, but if you're not in a rush, wait for the 2650 so you can buy my BPS improved Gen2R :)

If hood choice is a factor, the KB 3.2 would be my choice unless a Whipple 4.0 can clear a stock hood.

I hope that means Eaton can't keep up on Fords order for TVS2650s for the next GT500 :)
Seriously though, I'm expecting something from SEMA/PRI shows this fall/winter.

The tvs has served me well, no complaints. However, I have 4 liter Whipple envy. You can run it on a stock block and it seems to be consistent boost. It seems like the tvs has to climb to higher rpm to achieve peak boost.

You got it....all resources are being put towards the next GT500. Nothing expected this fall/winter for our cars.

Well, I agree on 4.0, but that may mean $2000 in a new hood and I'd choose a TVS over 2.9 Whipple.
