whats up guys .. just bought a whipple 2.9 a few weeks ago from a member on here. I'm about to put the blower on but I'm noticing a problem.. the pulley does not spin freely when the snout is mounted fully on the blower but if I pull the snout back a few mm it spins completely different and way more free. What could be the problem here? The blower spins perfectly until the snout is mounted on and compressed against the face of the blower. Any help would be great as I'm ready to drop everything in soon.

Hmm sounds like maybe it's not seated properly to me , doesn't sound like a bearing issue although I would drain and refill the fluid so you know it's fresh ! If you don't have a pulley removal /install tool I suggest you get one

It never had oil ran through the blower.. the pulley is off the car now. Should I take apart the snout and see if anything is up?

You don't need a pulley tool. Whipple and KB pulleys are bolted on, much nicer design in regards to the factory eaton.

Does the snout require a gasket you might be missing?

Are you actually pulling the snout off or just pulling the shaft out against any end play?

The Whipples I've see don't have a gasket between the case and snout.

The entire snout off the blower a tiny bit.. when it's not bolted in it spins great
