I know this will be a let down without pics, but I helped a close friend here buy the GT350R I was offered.
He's having paint correction and paint sealant (quartz maybe?) done now, so pics this week!
It's ordered the way I spec'd it to dealer, black with matte black stripes and all options.
At the time I helped order, Lightning blue wasn't announced, but otherwise this is what I would've ordered.
Best part is he has the Pontiac, MI road course M1 rented for his birthday 7/7 and he can only take so many cars, so instead of wheeling my dads '13 Boss LS, looks like I'll get stuck in a new 350R on track!
More than excited on that, but he would like a new intake.
I'm only thinking of JLT, and not sure if the car really needs it, but what CAI would you guys recommend? Money no option.

There have not been any substantial gains from any CAI on the market. The benefit comes from the tune.

I recommend you save your money as the stock unit has not proven to be a point of restriction

Yeah, I hear ya, but not my car and he wants a 'better intake' feels like 'breathing restricted, you can hear it on shifts'.
While I'm not sure I'd modify a new R much, I figure a CF intake will look better, maybe let you hear the motor more and be easy return to stock.

"Feels restricted on the shifts" is laughable.

QFT.

He needs to track the car.

And as for restriction, he could add a sewer sized intake if he wanted to. Hint - the biggest restriction is at the inlet, where the initial airflow begins it's journey to the filter box.

Well I'd love to have pics but I haven't seen it yet.
Here's the track:

And I can appreciate the CAI restriction comments, but while he's not a mechanically inclined car guy...... he does own a new GT350R :)
I promise to get some nice shots up soon.
Also, anyone but JLT making a GT350 CAI?

Like others have said...it won't help anything.

Tell him to save his $500 and put it towards tires.

If it was me, id look to do some steeper gears on that thing. It will help multiply the torque and with the 8250 rpm redline, it will make for a helluva ride!

JLT offers carbon tubes for their intakes, fwiw. And if he wants to put an intake on it let him! It's a car, not a Mona Lisa painting. Guys relaaaaaax. Hahahahaha
