I have been looking for a clean, N/A, sub 75k mile sn95 Cobra for a few months now. My budget is around 10k. Red or black are really the only colors I'm interested in. That being said, I have found two cars fairly close to where I live and I would like a second opinion on what would seem to be a better car for me/deal for the price. I do know a good bit about Cobras, but would like to hear from those who actually own one.

Car #1: 1998, 66k miles, excellent laser red paint, clean black leather, jlt Cai, bbk x pipe, flowmaster cat back, ebiac springs, struts, shocks, cc plates, bushings. Short throw shifter, aluminum drive shaft, Ford racing pedals, brand new 4.10 gears, probably has a tune...not sure, new Saleen wheels (18"), new tires. Asking $10500 ( exterior & paint look to be in Extremely good shape. Noticably cleaner than car #2, and it is also clean car.)

Car #2: 1997 73k miles, good black paint, clean black leather, jlt ram air, bbk x pipe & mid pipe, SLP loudmouth, tuned, new battery, new serp belt, tremec t-56 from 03 Terminator, brand new center force clutch & pilot bearing, Ford racing flywheel, aluminum drive shaft, 4.30 gears, drilled & slotted rotors, Saleen wheels on good tires, blue tooth unit. Asking 9k

I will be using the car as my main dd. It will be driven about 10k miles yearly. probably 65-75% city driving, the other will be small highway driving. (50-60mph). Drivability and longevity are priorities over fuel economy (who buys a cobra for mpg).

Thoughts? Opinions? Concerns? Go.

Great looking rides man. I've always been a big fan of the Lighting's...and of course the sn95's.

You plan on adding a power adder? If not the t56 means nothing really the gearing is so so for a n/a car

I love the cobra as well but the lightning needs some work and a tune so I've kinda been paying the lightning more attention these days

If I did it would be later on down the road...and even then I'm not sure slapping a s/c on a 100k+ mile car would make much sense correct me if I'm wrong? I'm not looking for a money pit either. How reliable are the t-45's after motor work, say 350+rwhp?

Only concern I'd really have is compression numbers on motor as long as the numbers are good I don't care how many miles are on it personally...mine has 111k and the compression are outstanding... t45 can hold in the 450 rear wheel hp range as long as your not power shifting it

I should be close to 290+ rwhp with the sct 93 tune and she rips down the road... I had it dynoed before I got a tuner and she made ~275 rwhp on a dyno jet without the tune on a nearly crapped out clutch.. clutch and lightweight flywheel have since been installed... if you go to test drive the black one might as well drive mine too see where mine stands up next to theirs lol

Oh ok I wasn't sure I have heard mixed reviews on the t-45 with any kind of power. I wouldn't want a DD with more than 400-450 anyways. I kinda favor the red one but I may have to take a trip up there as i am still waiting on a call from the owner.

The weak point in the t45 is the shift forks other than that it's pretty strong.. I was gunna supercharge mine but now have the lightning so it's kinda on the back burner.. if you do take the ride up here your more than welcome to give mine a run as well.. I'm just a few mins down the road from the black one.. I've got aluminum rebuildable flywheel, fidanza clutch kit 2 weeks old, fr500 wheels brand new tires,k/n filter, aluminum driveshaft,4.10,steeda shifter,drilled/slotted rotors 2 months old,sct 93 tune, bbk long tube headers,h pipe, flowmasters,

Car number 1 loudmouths would get old fast, plus 4.30s are short for street use

I would think the 4.30 gears and loudmouth in car #2 would get old for a DD.

Both look like good cars, plus a 3rd option from a member!

Yea that's what I was thinking with the 4.30's...only reason I was considering was bc I have heard that is the about the best gear to utilize the the 4v power n/a. As for these cobra exhausts, I don't really know about the tone differences from kit to kit. Are the loudmouths just obnoxiously loud?

I'd think the 4.30 is a bit much for street In a t45 car but he has a t56 swap it prolly feels more like 3.73 in a t45 after the swap.. both are nice for sure mines cheaper tho lol
