So I assume the iat that's on the display is pre heat exchanger?
If you mean the instrument display cluster "gauge" - that's the IAT off the MAF - so pre-boost temp... UNLESS you have a kit from the likes of Whipple or someone else that splits the temp off the MAF via a pigtail and then plugs into the manifold... then it's "still" IAT in the logs - but the temp it's reading is post-boost, what people call IAT2.
You fancy GT500 guys have both on the data bus tho...

IAT2 is monitored by the ECM but looks as though some tuners are not set-up to read it out the box. I can connect my scan tool to my car and read it but I can't find the PID in live link for the x4 to read it yet. It may also only be a voltage value only that is converted on the tool as my scan tool only go as low as 80 in temp reading but the voltage reading goes lower. So it may be some type of conversion chart for the voltage readings for IAT2.

IIRC it's 0-5v and the temperature readings go from -40*f to 240*f...forgot which end is which though, not sure if -40* is 0v or 5v.

HPtuners does have the ability to read both IAT1 and IAT2 with out issues, you just add the Air Intake Temp 2 channel and you are set.

Guys, you're not going to get IAT2's from the PID's in LiveLink. You have to get it from the DMR's and it's called "Downstream Air Temps." This has been known for a long time. I'd post a screen capture but this POS website doesn't display any links from Imgur.

Maybe Photobucket will work, fourth one down:

Just wanted to get back and say that my IAT2 is lower after installing long tube headers.

SCT X4 handheld programmer might show it. Other than that, an aftermarket gauge.

x4 doesnt acording to the posts above. PS I have an x4 and cant find it either so thats why I am asking.

are you saying tap into the lower intake and put a gauge in? dont the computers have a factory sensor? thats what I would like to view somehow.

Yeah, there's a sensor for it, but you'll need either an aftermarket gauge or a handheld programmer that can read it.

SCT X4 plugged into a laptop with SCT LiveLink will show IAT 2. Also a nGauge or an Aeroforce Interceptor gauge will show IAT 2.

I see IAT2 from my Lund nGauge. I run the 6 stats grid and have AAT, IAT , & IAT2 in a column to see the 3 states. Left side is Coolant Temp, Total advance, and something else that escapes me. I just switched to 6 from 4 last night messing around with it. I think the other one is Boost (something) Temp. I put it in just to see what the heck it shows if anything. I added Advance to see if it would show a change of the car pulled timing.

While I'm not a Cobra / GT500 owner - I can tell you I have been fighting high IAT's with my SC setup (like 50*+ over ambient) and it's NOT the HE or the IC efficiency - for me it's really JUST the underhood heat being consumed by the intake and fed to the engine - if I "get on it" so I'm really sucking in the underhood air - where I'm generating boost (which makes heat) - I actually see my temps go DOWN because the external air is cooler than than the under hood air and I have gulped all the "heated" air down.

This seriously sounds silly - but I have found my IAT's in general are "lower" over all - the harder I drive the car - because I move more air under the hood by virtue of the car "eating" it and keeping fresh air coming in...

All things equal with ambient and engine temps - the IAT's will be 50* high when "around town" and like 35-40* over ambient at highway speeds... and drop to 20-30 if I'm jammin on the accelerator and managing the gears so I'm seeing boost on the gauge and KNOW I'm pulling a ton of air in.

I'm adding some fans to the H/E and opening up the grill a bit more this weekend... but it's possible you are seeing the same things I'm seeing.

This is it. If im in stop and go, iats can hit 144 for me in sc humidity which ungodly, but when rolling, 2* over ambient. Car runs 208-212 on the coolant.
