Yes...total waste of money. Don't be sucked in by "cold air intakes" either. The stock setup already draws from the fender. People claim gains, nothing there.

Either be happy with what you have, or do a power adder (which you will then need tuned).

You'll get more power for sure, but might as well wait to do a few mods to your car first. Unless you want to keep it mostly stock.

These motors are expensive to build NA for the hp gains due to it being dohc. If you want to stay NA, save up for a C head swap and keep your cams. If you want more than 350hp you'll have to go FI. Unfortunately these motors came off the show room with not much "unlockable hp".

I'm pretty sure there's a member on here that makes adapters so you can keep your stock intake manifold instead of having to buy a c head version.

Yeah they can get pricey. There's another way to go about this. Get an F150 5.0 and swap it in there. You can get an f150 5.0 for really cheap.

That's going to be a lot more expensive than a C head swap.
I didn't say it was going to be cheaper. But after resale of you old motor you're probably going to spend less than an FI setup while also being more reliable. C head swaps should be good for about 315-325whp. If OP is wanting more, it's cheaper to consider a different option or else you're experiencing diminished returns compared to how much you're spending.

Craigslist I think, these 4V's are too expensive for me to make much power. I think I'm gonna throw some 4.10's in and be just about done with performance parts

This thread started with the question "is a tune on a stocker a waste". Not about how to get best NA HP.

I wonder how many people on here actually wrench and tune themselves, v. read about it and pay someone...

LOL, you're the one who started off on recommending a different path by going boosted. It seems that OP isn't aware of what path to go to get efficient power gains by asking about expected gains from a tune on a stock motor, no offense OP. So it's only right to recommend different options. No need to be a dick. BTW I wrench on my own Cobra. I have a built 03 Cobra IRS swapped in my 1997 Cobra.

Did I say something offensive? If so I did it without meaning to! I appreciate all responses, any input is always appreciated, even if it is a little off topic!
