Hello all,
I can not decide on what to get. I just sold one of my termi's and would like to fill the empty spot in my garage. I found a relatively low mile (11,760) 11' GT500 for 39k that I am interested in but I also want my new car to handle all performance duties like cornering and straight line power. This is why I am leaning towards the 16' GT PP in which I will modify any way to get the power I crave. The problem is that I am unsure how to justify buying a non-SVT car. The new mustangs have grown on me and I hear great things about them. So I am just looking for opinions. Maybe on what I could do to the GT500 that would make it corner with or better than the GT. Or if I should just look into building a 16 GT. I live in Germany so I want to be able to run with the German monsters on the Autobahn. Instead of losing to them after I beat them to the 150mph mark. Basically, I want to hit 180+ or maybe even 200. These are my goals. But like I said I need a car that will handle at high speeds around corners like the Nurburgring. So... this is my conundrum.

Id go, 11' 500, just my opinion.

Too many GTs out there and value will tank unlike the 500. You can modify both to do whatever you want.

I would recommend the GT500. The GT PP in an auto is really quick, and the manual is fun to drive, but if I didn't already have a GT500, I would have gotten one instead of the GT350.

The thing is I want a car that I can customize/build without worrying about hurting the value (collectability) and drive the piss out of. This is why I bought two termi's so that I could enjoy the one with higher mileage and the other sits in the garage gaining value. I would love to have another SVT in the garage but that is probably where she would reside most of the time. I would be worried about hurting the value (collectability) of the car by putting to many miles of it. On top of that I want to have a car that I can put around the nurburgring and other autocross events. I don't think I would want to beat on the GT500 like that.

To put it bluntly.... **** collectability. Use and enjoy your car as you wish, you bought it for you, not the next guy! Thats the reason they were built, to be driven.

True that.... But can the GT500 do what I want it to do?
Hold together around a road course and be driven on a regular basis. I am a little concerned with the heaviness of the car to be honest. I want to be able to drive the car hard on the twisty german roads. My termi held up great. I am also concerned about the live axle. Although the GT500 does have the SVTPP and track package from the factory. Will that work for what I want?? Im not only looking for straight line power!!!
I have watched so many videos and read so many reviews on both cars... without any real determinations made.

GT500 w PP and TP is EXACTLY what you want. Just get the suspension dialed in, along with some good shoes and let her eat!

Plus, that shelby and the terminator will make a great stable.

This x 10000

The GT500 will probably better suited for your needs, my only concern would be heat on track.

I own a 900 hp GT500. I have driven every year of GT500 with almost every conceivable mod/configuration. I have owned a S550, drive a number of them in both NA and power adder configs. Long story short, the S550 is a superior car in every way. It rides better, handles better, loves reasonable power adders (particularly with an auto!). The NA S550's are gutless on the bottom end. A blower makes a huge difference. The collectability thing....only if you're going to sell it when you're 100 and you're about 30 now. There were over 50,000 GT500s made. You can buy a nice 13-14 for less than $55k now. 2011-12s are in the low to mid 40s. (But a '12 if you go that route so you don't have the first year of that engine. Nothing wrong with the '11, but just hedge your bets).

If I were going to buy another GT500 it would without a doubt be a '12 with Performance Pack.

If I were going to buy a S550, it would be a '16 or '17 auto. Our '15 runs mid 9's with our blower kit on it and no suspension work. Just driveshaft and axles.

Good luck.

Honestly I could not agree with this post more. I have owned 6 mustangs now and have many family members that have owned other models I did not. I can say confidently, without comparison the drive-ability factor of the 15+ over any other year Including GT500s is superior. The 15+ with blower power package and GT350 steering wheel paired with a great set of wheels/tires will change your world lol. I have a 15 GT with performance/track packs, GT350 steering wheel and shift knob, magnaflow comp axle-back, H-pipe, 19x10 285/35/19 front and 19x11 325/30/19 rear and I am absolutely in love. The car already drove and handled great but the steering wheel and wheels/tires together genuinely enhanced everything to a very noticeable degree. The ONLY other thing I have left to do is the Roush stage 2 kit and I will be a very satisfied driver.
