I like the look of the GT500 hood. Since I have a Supercharger installed I think the extra vent would help lower temperatures and I like the look. I can just go out and buy one, then I would have to have it painted, then try and sell my old hood. It would be so much simpler to just add the vent on my current hood. Any thoughts?

Here's the how to...

But I'd buy a different hood personally.

I have the same thoughts as you on my 2012 - and just can't imagine this working out well over the long haul.

A stock GT500 hood has a recess all around where the vent mounts, so the vent sits flush with the hood.
...........The recess is = to the thickness of the vent.
Hoods come up for sale from time to time, & you may get lucky and find one in the correct color.

Thanks. Ford Parts sells them for $1065.00. I see them listed on eBay for around $800.00. I wonder if there will be any at the American Muscle Show in August?

What about buying a used GT500 hood and cutting out the hood vent and having it welded to my exiting hood? Also whats the difference between the 2010-12 hood and the 2013-14 hood?

.
Not saying it couldn't be welded, but thin material warps easily.
.
According to a part listed on E-bay, ( AR3Z16612A ), it fits 2010-14. I would verify this @ a Ford dealership parts counter.
