I didn't take the time to read any other posts so somebody may have said this already. BUT.....

I've been through 2 serious knee surgeries on both my knees and currently awaiting an MRI to possibly show I need a third. Been through several cracked and broken bones so I'm pretty knowledgeable in this area.

If already been X-rayed like you said thumbs up. Bones ruled out. 2 have an MRI scheduled if you've already had an X-ray then you've probably done paid some of your insurance deductible down. IF IT IS a ligament it will require surgery. Ligaments don't have blood flow/ no blood flow no healing process. This is also true for cartilage damage. Some tendon and muscle damage will heal depending on severity of the damage. If either it completely torn it would require surgery. If tendon or muscle still has some contact being extremely careful in time surgery can be avoided.

I also raced motocross for years(first acl, mcl, cartilage, meniscus tear) and football(the other knee) then soccer(same as first knee again) and several bones through the years. I personally just by your story thing you have deep tissue brushing and will heal. I'm not a big person to tell anyone to pop pills but take something to easy your pain for awhile and keep an ace bandage around your hand and a hand/wrist brace one you can slide your thumb into to keep you from bending it again. And in the mean time schedule and MRI to be save.

God bless you I will pray for the lord Jesus the great physician to put a healing touch upon your hand and easy your pain. He's still alive and can still work miracles. Best of luck to you.

I messed up my wrist bowling many years ago, it still hurts to get in the push up position and bend it forward or back... I just learned to live with the pain, never went to the doctor about it. I'd be interested in seeing what your outcome is.

Hopefully you didn't tear anything. I tore a ligament in my wrist in Oct 2015, had surgery in Nov followed by 5 months of physical therapy. Still only have approximately 70% movement and strength back from where I was, if that. Had x-ray done first which did not show anything, so Dr. ordered MRI that showed the damage. Very bad injury to say the least.

I hope the dr visit found an answer. I fell backwards on the ice in feb, went to the VA 2 weeks later when it still was useless, the dr had xrays taken, nothing broken. The dr had said(rudely) nothings wrong, what do you expect me to do? I asked for an MRI, got that 3 weeks later. 1 almost complete tear, 1 prominent tear. here it is now May, still haven't been able to schedule an appointment with a surgeon. Get it fixed sooner than later!

This is exactly why I told the op to get a second opinion from an expert. X-rays don't show soft tissue damage which is usually worse than broken bones.
I've demanded MRI's every time I've gotten a broken nose.

Mid December I was plowing snow. A shitty customer I have really got under my skin and I ended up punching my windshield. the next day I couldn't make a fist. It's now May and most of the time it doesn't hurt but if I shake hands with someone I feel it bad. It's embarrassing and I deserve it.

Long story; get it checked out. Hand injuries suck.
