Hello everyone, this is my first post on here and I think I'm gonna enjoy this group . Anyway , I recently just got my motor rebuilt and when I pulled it out , I brought it out from the top with the tranny attached , blower off . Pretty easy process . Now after getting my motor rebuilt , and having all brand new parts hanging on it like starter , alternator, etc I'm looking at doing Longtubes headers maybe . My question is , is it possible to mount up headers to the block then carefully drop it back in the car ? Or possibly just lower the engine with the hoist pretty low almost seated , then install ???? I'm trying to avoid dropping the K . Has this been done before by anyone? Thank you

I figured your screen name was based on the thought of dropping in the motor with long tube headers :)

It's been done by some and your mileage will vary depending on what headers they are and what angles you're able to achieve and how much you care about bumping, banging and scratching things.

Myself personally if the motor has long tubes just drop the K and take it out and put it in through the bottom. So much less headache, no fighting it, banging things up etc. By far my preferred solution.

it should come out top or bottom. Bottom may be easier depending on how much space you have. I removed mine from the top so the car could still be rolled around.

Just put my motor back in from the bottom with long tubes... It's so easy.

If you aren't considering doing it from the bottom...you should.
