2014 Short Block build or 2015 Long Block swap?

I'm pushing 657 rwhp on a stock 2014 GT motor on 9psi and 91 octane, and know it's only a matter of time before she pops. Looking into it I can get a built short block from Brenspeed or others, or I can get a completely new long block gen 2 Coyote for MY15 and swap it in with cam and timing changes. Both are about $5K for the parts, just wondering which is a better idea. Any thoughts?

def go with the built 14 short block. the 15 motors are great but only good to about 800 hp b4 they start failing. they may be reliable to another 100-150 hp over the 14 motor

its race season tho so good luck finding someone to build you a short block anytime soon unless you put a Rush order on it and pay more. the 15 motor wud surely be quicker to get but make no mistake it will not hold up like a built short block will.

but if ur jus lookn for insurance to make 650 hp then maybe the 15 is a better choice for you but that wud be foolish imo cause no one jus wants to make 650 forever. sooner or later u will want to make more and with a built short block u can

I was just thinking the newer heads, bigger valves, and a camshaft upgrade (comp cams) with the Boss springs and rods would be good for about 700 rwhp. I only have 91 octane here and wasn't really planning on going for too much more power on this car (daily driver).

However, I agree, you never know about the HP bug, but I only have a 2.3L whipple, 47lb injectors, BAP, and no other fuel upgrades yet!

I went with building my '13. The '15 has better rods but not pistons over the earlier years. I was able to use the stock block. Planned on using the stock crank but they would have had to add mallory to get enough weight into it and for the cost it was easier to go with the boss crank. Went with Manley rods and pistons and ARP main studs and had it done locally for $3400

Threw the short block in the trunk of my Evo and dropped it off:)

Also put in billet oil pump gears and crank sprocket. While it was apart I had Slawco port the heads and lower intake

Took it apart and put it back together with help of a friend in my Dad's pole barn. Actually was easier then I thought it would be

Thanks for the feedback, another thought came to mind, will my 2011-2014 FRPP Whipple even work with the 2015 long block?

If you are worried about the head intake port flange, no that's not an issue. My late 14 car has the 2015 castings and I had no issue with installing the blower.
