Not all third party service contracts are bad.

Typically, the "*insert dealer name here* Guarantee", is trash.

OP, as others have mentioned, it didn't have to end up like this.

I recently bought a 2013 raptor super crew with 36k miles. Did a quick test drive, came back, got it certified pre owned, agreed on price and my trade, did the paperwork. It took me all of 1 hour, and I got the truck two days later after the dealership went thru it and had a local outside detail shop do a full detail.

I will add however this is a dealer myself and my family and friends have done business with for 24 years, and have probably bought and leased 40 vehicles in those 24 years.

Lots of different responses here.

As far as them taking advantage of me, and me being to blame... I had already decided that the internet price was fair and a price I was willing to pay before I went to the dealer. Would I have liked a better deal? Sure, but that is not my issue with the dealer.

My issues with them are:

1. Lying about the warranty which was one of my reasons of deciding the price was fair, because it included this, the admitting they ****ed up, and only offering a detail or tire rotation in place of the warranty.

2. Selling me the tonneau cover in the deal and not including some of the parts that they should have.

3. Not standing behind the tires that they purchased through the Ford program, and installed.

4. Their absolute refusal to address a single one of these concerns after stating they would.

I have contacted Ford customer care once again who states that they can't do anything about any of these issues other than file a negative complaint against the dealer. I just find that really hard to believe.

As for buying used cars from dealerships, I disagree with almost everything anyone has said here. I've bought a lot of used cars from dealerships and I've had exactly two issues including this one so I consider that good.

I emailed my complaint to all the major news companies in my area and have already received emails from two of them wanting to do interviews. I have a feeling this is going to get pretty interesting as they love this kind of stuff and I'm out for blood at this point.

I'll keep this updated if anything happens. If anyone here has a corporate contact at Ford that might get me somewhere there, it would be appreciated.

do you like anyone?

Yeah, never mind.
I get along with a lot of people. including the ford dealer here who I have very good working relationship with. Having a good relationship with a dealer is what happens when you walk in prepared and are willing to walk away from a deal.

The biggest boneheaded move buy the op is in continuing to drive on tires HE KNEW were seriously out of balance. you just can't make that kind of shit up.

They did stand behind it...but you took it somewhere else instead?

No, they haven't stood behind anything. They've said they would and didn't, so yes I took it to a third party because if nothing else I have it now in writing by another dealer that the tires are jacked.

I'm not sure why you'd assume this. I've hardly put any miles on the truck what so ever for this exact reason.

The only bonehead move that I believe I made was not walking when they gave me the $1200 higher quote. Regardless of them selling it for the quoted price in the end which I thought was a fair price, I still should have walked out just because of them pulling it.

Accept that they burned you, learn from it and move on. Go buy the factory service manual and never let them touch it again.

They damaged their reputation and eventually that will cost them money and that is only thing that matters to them. Send a certified letter to the owner describing your experience and let him know that you will be using the power of social media to put your story out there. Then spread the word.

Because YOU said you did in your OP, and I quote:

I noticed that the new tires that the dealership had just installed were severely out of balance to which I called Peter immediately. I was told to drive it and that it would probably smooth out… You know, because tires balance themselves… It proceeded to get worse.

How could it "proceed to get worse" if you weren't driving it?

I know where you guys are coming from
But I have been in similar situations
And the dealers have made it right to a degree
Parts from a dealer can be replaced
At no cost to them in certain situations
However I would communicate through email to have written proof
The man wanted the truck and was willing to get it despite the fact they were not too flexible on the price
I have owned over 13 cars
I have walked away from a lot of deals
However this isn't something I would of walked away
But I personally wouldn't of bought the extended protection

I have a friend of mine who got the 2015 gt
And they took some things out of the car when they went to add gas and detail it
Apart from curbing a wheel and fighting over it to have it replaced over wheel protection plan
Not the worst dealer out there but I would buy from them if it was me

I mean dude.. this is obvious. It's like you hit on a transgender dude at the bar and you saw she had a boner. When you asked her/him about it, she/he said "Oh that's just a crease in my dress" and you stupidly went "Oh haha smiley emoji face". Then you took said transgender home to bone and took it up the butt. Now you're on here complaining about her boner and your loose butt hole.

You saw the boner at the dealership. You just couldn't stay away from it.

I read it as he called before he got home, and the tires continued to get worse as he drove home from the dealership.

OP, this dealership threw a ton of red flags at you. I won't reiterate all the points brought up, but you should have walked on the deal.

Agree, had several customers that saved a bundle by having an aftermarket warranty. There are some sketchy aftermarket warranty companies out there, but dealerships I worked at only used the good ones.
