Why is it just the buyer that gets punched in the face for not being a man of his word? Why aren't you cracking the seller for changing the deal?
Or rather, trying to resurrect a deal that he rejected.

I would say wait a little bit and expand your search.

Here is a 2014 SVTPP for less than $50K

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Ford-M...ash=item1ec633bcfc:g:hSwAAOSw7GRZA20t&vxp=mtr

and if you go to eBay and put "2013 GT500" in the eBay Motors search there are 5 or 6 2013's down in the mid-$40K's with one at a Buy-It-Now of $45K and the other 4-5 2013's in the $47K and $48K range. So again the question is...................A modded 2011 with excellent miles for $40K (that some say is s good deal)? or a 2013 for $45K or even a 2014 for less than $50K? I would expand my search and list either on paper or firmly in your mind what you want and start an the current value research. It did not take me more than two minutes to find 2013's and a 2014 within $5K-$7K of the original $40K asking price of this 2011. A wise/well informed buyer who does his/her homework usually gets the best deal, rather than jumping into something early. <<I have learned that over the last 40+ years of specialty car buying and the internet now makes it that much easier to buy what you really want instead of settling for something else.

If it is important to you, searching the internet/google for things like "2013 GT500 showroom brochure" will show you a .pdf of what options were available on these cars when they were new and you can narrow down your search to the exact options you want and what is no so important. You are spending a lot of $$$$, and these are "used cars" that are depreciating, so sellers want to sell, the key is............how bad do they want to sell?

And he have jumped completely over 2012's and the intro. Recaro's from the search. I'll bet 2012 owners are also willing to deal...........

Because taking a few hours to decide that a 4k kick in the nuts is something you can live with is not unreasonable.

The OP didn't do his due diligence and got caught looking stupid when his offer was accepted. The OP didn't know if his offer was fair or not, hence this thread.

I paid 48K out the door with ext warranty from Carmax in March of 2015 for my bone stock 2011 SVT PP with 15k miles.

40K private party ALREADY modded with a whipple with less than 3K you should have jumped all over it like a fat kid on the last cupcake in the world. Should have given him sexual favors for going down to 36k.

A few hours browsing parts and install threads her should ahve you appreciate the deal that represents. I dont even want to recall how much cash ive droppe don my car just getting to where I am with it today. And Im still running an M122 blower. *crying*

Get the car at 36k and enjoy. Its a hell of a lot of car for the money.

*edit* i realize I came off as a dick, not my intention. My bad if anyone took it that way. but I stand by my statements hehe

That's a great deal for a 2011. Most people want to buy the car stock with no mods thinking that most have not been beat on or run hard. That's not always true. I bought my car stock with low miles and spent a lot of money on mods. I would not be afraid of buying a car with these popular mods as a lot of us do this anyway after purchasing. I would definitely get the car checked out and ask the owner a lot of questions about tuning. Do your homework and get the car you want. I definitely wouldn't sell my 2011 for that price. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for all replies gents. Most of you were very helpful and gracious.

For those that chose not to be so kind, just let me say that you were not privy to all the details of the deal. There were some red flags raised which caused me to reconsider the purchase. So do not be so quick to judge......

Again, many thanks.

Now please let this thread rest in peace, LOL.

What if he originally agreed in your 36,000 offer? Would you have bought the car or said let me think about it. Me personally if my offer got turned down and then a few hrs later was accepted I would've been ecstatic

Seller offers car for $40K. OP makes a counteroffer of $36K, which is refused. When the seller refused the $36K counteroffer the deal is dead. End of story. When the seller then tried to re-up the $36K, the seller made a *new* offer to the OP - who had every right to say no, think about it, whatever. Basic contract principles.

Just because the seller had second thoughts about the $36K doesn't mean OP was obligated to do a damn thing.

True, but that isn't why the OP didn't buy.

Wow. I can't believe some of y'all think $40K for a basically still brand new '11 GT500 is high. Then add in that the car already has +/-$10K in the most popular mods, and $40K for it is a steal. $36K is a lowball offer for that car. Unless those 2600 miles were put on 1/4 mile at a time, OP would be crazy not to jump all over it, if he actually wants a GT500. And I don't understand why people would even be recommending that he ante up even more money for a stock '13/'14 that will be slower than this car. :??: Did they miss the 2.9 Whipple sitting on top of the engine?

Also, why do people put so much "stock" in getting a stock Mustang? I can't count how many FS threads are on here from people putting their cars back to stock so they can sell it. That "stock" car you're buying could've been beat all to hell and back twice, but you're thinking you're getting an unmolested vehicle. LOL

I'm just curious if the offer was accepted would you have backed out of it. If your mind changed over a few hours I'm leaning towards yes. I agree your under no obligation once he turned it down but it seems like even 36,000 was too much in your opinion.

Op are you even serious about a car or just kicking tires and creating threads? 36k is a steal for that car. I get he rejected then accepted but if you were serious why not take it? Also EL O EL at taking about buying a new GT and just missing a whipple. Watch resale value tank on that GT compared to the Shelby.

There's more worth to a car than money and that car has a lot of the major modifications done! If the paint is immaculate, I'd say it's a sweet deal. Jump right into rear suspension and you'd have a fun car for a while.

the 10+ cars are not my taste however I follow them enough to know the prices and that car IS worth 40k. Look at it this way the signature is worth at least 1k so thats part of the 1-2k you're undecided about.

Also, I like black :)

If OP isn't buying it post up a link for others so someone can enjoy. I think it's a great deal
