What was wrong with him/her?

She took a fall from the top of her enclosure. Honestly, I don't know if all spiders are like this, but tarantulas are extremely sensitive to falls. After the fall, she could no longer move without limping. A day later she was doing good just to get her body off the floor.

In all seriousness, my first thought was a rock or a boot.

That's definitely one way. But being a pet and all, I couldn't do that. Just think how many times you normally have to step on the average house spider to kill it. Now multiply that size by four or five. Plus think of the added mess.

Thats pretty saf man, sorry for your loss.

Believe it or not, I avoid killing spiders at all costs.

If I had a pet spider, Id feel pretty lousy if it died.

I avoided killing spiders once I bought my T. Before that they were all fair game.

Just curious, but how did you know that it was "time" to put it down?

See above.

What's ironic about this thread and my experience is that I bought my T from a place in Myrtle Beach.

Sorry to hear about your spider zhisel, I've had a Rose hair for going on 8 years now, one of the easier and more interesting pets I've ever had.

That's what my T was. Freaking beautiful thing!

I don't know how you guys sleep at night knowing those freaks of nature are in the house.

I mean, I'm married to a woman who isn't on a single medication. Which scenario scares you worse? :p

Buddy, there are spiders in your house, now. One of the most prolific, varied, successful animals on the planet. They're everywhere.

Very interesting article. I found the peacock spider pretty interesting and did some more research. Found a good, fascinating video.

And there goes my TF order.

But seriously, that was pretty funny. Just picturing someone taking a T to a vet and contemplating treating its cancer... Lol

Had an old neighbor that had a Rosehair T and he told me this spider can jump up to 6 feet down to the ground, but it has to do it, it's self as if like what happen to yours where it dropped over a foot off the ground it would probably die.

He said it is almost like the spider has to either get it's body in a certain position or psych itself up before making the jump. He also had a Texas Brown T before his Rose that would do like a trapdoor spider where it would only come out from it's borrow snag it's prey and drag it back inside, it rarely ever went out of it.
