Is there a way to prime the engine like on the 4.6's?

Hey Guys i'm going to be pulling my 04 Lightning out of storage this weekend and it hasn't been started in a while. I tried searching the internet to see if there was a method to priming the engine before starting it but didn't find anything applicable. The manual transmission 4.6's will crank the engine over without adding fuel if you depress the clutch and gas pedal all the way and I use this method whenever I pull my 99 Cobra out of storage.

Does anyone know of a way to do this or something similar with my 04 Lightning? I don't like like just starting the truck after its sat for 5-6 months. Unfortunately pulling the spark plugs is kind of out of the question considering how hard/time consuming it is to do so.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

That's a flood clear and it should stop the injectors from firing. You can also pull the cam position sensor and it won't fire the coils.

Is the cam position sensor easy to find? I haven't looked under the hood in a while and I can't even remember which bank its on.

ummmm arent these engines the same as other mod motors in that the started doesnt spin them up enough to build oil pressure? I was told by the builder on my DOHC 4.6 NOT to try it that way. You can drain the oil and use a garden sprayer through the oil sender port and prime the engine that way

You are right that it won't actually build oil pressure. I've noticed that on my oil pressure gauge on my cobra. It won't actually even build any pressure but if it can circulate some oil so the vital parts at least have some oil on them topically then that will have to do.

Weird. When I built this motor I pulled the plugs, and cam sensor. It built oil pressure on a mechanical gauge.

perhaps what I said wasnt the best way to word it, it will not adequately circulate oil to the entire motor. Tim @ MPR was very specific when we talked about priming the new motor, he said the garden sprayer method was perfectly fine. The printed startup and break in instructions specifically say NOT to spin it over with the starter to prime/lube the motor (they primed the pump through the pickup tube before putting the oil pan on)

He's also not trying to prime a new motor. He's starting an old motor for the first time in a while
