Bet the Viper would still be alive if they had a baby version. Similar to the Corvette family.

Looks like the dual fuel thing equates to a new pre programmed pcm that comes separate from the car in a "demon crate". You can't run both pump and race gas as there is only one tank and fuel system. And if the combined octane is too low in the tank the hotter software won't be used.

I don't understand why they wouldn't do that with e85 rather than race fuel. E85 is much easier to find and makes the most powa....

Availability of E85 varies greatly depending on where you live. While I don't disagree E85 would have been a good choice race gas doesn't require an upgraded fuel system above and beyond stock. That said obviously quite a few vehicles come E85 ready...

That's exactly what I was thinking. So many vehicles come flex fuel ready why wouldn't it run on e85? And the fuel in the teaser was green...with no official announcement maybe it is e85 ready and not based on 100 octane?

Taken from Motor Trend. You maybe correct as no one has further specified:

Motor Trend said:
Dodge says the Challenger SRT Demon is the first ever factory production car designed to run on either 100-plus-octane fuel or 91-octane premium unleaded fuel. The car does so on demand, as there’s an available button in the center stack that allows the driver to switch from pump gas to race gas. You can find high-octane racing fuel at certain gas stations, speed shops, and drag strips.

I wonder if aftermarket tuners will capitalize on this & rather than switching tunes via handheld, you could just click a button to swap from 93 to E85/109/C16 tunes.

That would be great. Similar to aprs cruise control button octane switch in Audi/vws.

Conversely I wonder how many people will just get an aftermarket tune via handheld on the stock pcm? Having to swap to a factory tuned race gas cal on separate pcm is kind of a pita and unless scaling or maps are somehow modified vs the oem pcm the aftermarket will make more power anyway.

I'm assuming dodges race gas cal doesn't void warranty and also that racing it (if it comes with DRs...) won't either.

This seems to be the most serious effort that we've seen to date of oems wading into the aftermarket as far as performance options.

They said though it'll detect if insufficient octane is in it, so you could probably just have the 100 octane pcm in all the time & it'll detune if there's lower octane in it.

That's true but not optimal for a pump gas scenario. The RG pcm has as claimed by dodge more ignition timing in the cal, probably leaner AF, less tq management etc. on pump gas the RG pcm will constantly use the knock sensors to pull timing which means the engine will never make clean power since the pcm is constantly pulling timing. So drivable absolutely, optimal for pump gas performance it won't be.

I just wish the Hellcats had Flex Fuel..

10.33 I think.. 10 second production car for under 100k with warranty is pretty nuts.
