Exactly! That's why this talk about people buying the "wrong car" is annoying me enough to keep posting in this thread. Ford is not making enough to have a full sales channel with everyone able to get what they want.

It's been tough to buy any of the recent FP vehicles at MSRP with exactly the right option package.

....I still don't understand how you, or anyone could think that the Tech car should perform like the Track car and the R; it does not add up in my brain at all.

It doesn't add up in any rational person's brain! That's why there's so much frustration between the factions.

Base/Tech Pack guys: "I know Ford offers a TRACK PACKAGE and the R for tracking the cars AND that they recommend adding coolers to Base/Tech cars if they're taken to the track. I'd rather have some nice, plushy seats that keep my ass cool in the summer and toasty in the winter."
goes to the track and the car doesn't last
"Ohz noz!! This car that Ford clearly said needs additional coolers for the track is overheating when I try to track it!! Ford deceived me!"

Everybody else: "Da fuq???"

The only real difference that matters for a street focused, occasional track day car is the coolers. Going into a limp mode would suck. Ford repeatedly said it was just a cooler kit. I don't care if my Tech car is THEORETICALLY 0.1S slower than a Track, as long as it's not annoying me by going into limp mode. I'm there for fun; you don't win trackdays. Plenty of Rs are going to be getting passed by Miatas at tracks all over this country.

The internet commandos like to talk about 10 pounds of nav or whatever, but I don't care if the thing is 100lbs heavier. I wanted a performance car that was awesome for road trips with the family and could do track days. I fully believed that's what I was getting. The only error in my thinking was the transmission...that's not worth lawyering up over. It's just annoying.

I wasn't looking for a race car, and I'm not confused about what a race car is as it seems like some here on the forum are. The stock Recaros are not particularly good track seats. I have the Recaros in my FoRS and I find them no more, or maybe a tiny bit more laterally supportive than the Tech seats while being much less comfortable. I have a Race Tech race seat in one of my other cars. That's a, fully approved, exceptionally supportive track seat. It's also a PITA on the street, mainly because it's hard to get out of without whacking my door into a car parked next to me.

If I really wanted to go fast in my GT350, I'd have tried to buy a Base, because the interior is getting stripped/tossed for actual track stuff, the wheels are getting tossed, and I'm going to want high end dampers that are easily adjustable, linear in response so it does the exact same thing in every corner, and damn any comfort off track.

I think you should buy a Viper.

My kids will hate the seats in the trunk. :)

Seriously- I wanted a GT car that could be fun at the track, not a sports car. Other than the unexpected trans change, I got exactly that. It's awesome, I love the car. Part of the reason I would never join a class like this is because I love that Ford had the balls to build it!

How many trackdays have you done in your R? How many road course trackdays have you ever done on any number of wheels?

How the hell are track times not relevant to a car designed to be raced on a track?

Sounds like a Ford rep trying to pull one over on us with that line. You can't re-release one of your most famous race cars, advertise it as such, and then tell people the track times don't matter

I got my R in December. I plan on tracking it this summer. I've done the BMW M Performance Driving course in Spartanburg (technically, Greer), SC. Am I qualified enough?

They would take turns riding in the passenger seat lol

Easy killer.

The GT350 Track Pack and the GT350R have performed well on the track. The Tech Pack was NOT designed to be a track car; hence having track variations available to the public.

Opinion!

Res ipsa loquitr. It says more that you think you're an authority.

Not once did I say I think I'm an authority, did I? It says MORE that you want to attempt to disqualify me, though.

Buys a car to TRACK occasionally but doesn't buy the avaliable TRACK pack and is now complaining about the TRACK performance and says it Ford's fault. Hmm makes sense.

From somewhere on earth

I'm not sure how that's an opinion.

Ford proudly says "performance is not one-size-fits-all; there are different varieties, based on how owners will use the car...."

Ford understood that the Tech Car was not going to be marketed to the people that wanted to take it to the track; it was marketed to the people that wanted a street cruiser. The Track and the R were marketed to track orientated crowd.

It's splitting hairs. The Tech still comes with all the track tips materials. Any GT350 is still far far more track oriented than say a Mustang with PP...but, and last time I'll bore everyone with it...the proof is in the pudding. They messed up compared to customer expectations (which were largely influenced by Ford marketing) with the 2016 Tech and quit making them in favor of making all 2017 GT350 cars Tracks.

The Track Pack cars were more desirable, more sought after, and demanded more of a premium.

Ford simply looked at the data and decided to appeal to the masses and make it possible to get the Track Pack and Electronics Package in one vehicle.

That sir, is the pudding.

LOL, or, they killed the Tech. Because it didn't do what we expected it to. Based on the emails I had with FP about the "cooler kits", it became a big pain because tons of Tech buyers wanted a kit, and did not expect to have to swap trans and have ECU issues.

Or it could be because there are currently 102 Technology Package cars still for sale, compared to 9 Track Package cars.
