So in other words, you're going to end up getting a ZL1. It's highly unlikely that any dealer is going to let you drive a GT350. Not unless it's a used one. No lie, I was in the middle of signing all the paperwork on my R when I mentioned not having had a test drive. The guy looked and reacted like I had asked him to watch his wife blow me; totally taken aback.

Read this as that would bother you if he did ?? In fact all your posts to which you respond super quick in this thread makes me think you regret you decision. I could be wrong - maybe I am

This is what kills me about Ford dealers and its only them that I've ever had any issues with. I will look for a used one to test drive. I'm sure there will be plenty by the time I'm ready. Worst case, I drive a GT just to get the feel of the dimensions of the car.

You just need to have an agreed on price and approved finances to drive the 350/R.

You are totally wrong. No regrets on my end. I'm just having a conversation.

The price and financing was already done. Like I said, I was already signing the ownership paperwork. Yet, he was still shocked that I would ask for a test drive.

GT Premi, did you have to pay any adm?

Of course.

Of course.

I was not talking of your situation. In order to test drive a vehicle like the GT350 many times you need to agree on price and prove finances.

Which would you choose, and why? I like both cars equally. I like the NA, high revving GT350 and the all-around performance and options on the ZL1. It would have to come down to a test drive.

Great post as I have been waiting for the GT350 market to get to msrp or below since beginning of 2016. Once the 1LE Camaro came out and matched the GT350 performance for 44k it grabbed my attention but the exterior looks, interior space of the Camaro fall short to the GT350. Fast forward to the ZL1 where a good amount of reviews/tests/comparisons put the performance ahead of the GT350R with an attainable selling price of 3-4k below msrp $62-64k range. ZL1 interior comes with more options than the GT350 but I prefer the GT350 layout, visibility and better rear seat room. ZL1 exterior front and side I can live with, the rear not so much. The Shelby flows front to rear, so the question comes down to GT350 for the unique engine, looks and market niche or ZL1 for all out performance.

As a side note I have no preference to either Ford or GM to push me one way or another and never rush into a purchase.

I have test driven a 2017 GT350, 2016 Camaro 1SS manual, 2SS manual. Waiting for any 2017 ZL1's to get to the NW to see and drive. Upcoming GT500 and Z/28 will both be outside my price range so it comes down to the GT350 or ZL1.

Any GT350 owners here that have driven the 2017 ZL1? Would love to hear your thoughts between the 2, especially around town, highway, back road impressions.

Thanks!

"IF" I did get a new ZL1, it would be like this one. Red Hot color, no moonroof, no stripe, carbon fiber bits, and an A10.
Red Hot is right. I'm really digging the front end now. The rest of the car is okay, especially the rear of the car, but I'm liking it more and more.

Reminds me of the time I showed up to a Ford dealer, in the new CTS-V that I had for an extended test drive, to look at a used GT500 and the idiots acted like I asked to drive a 1 of 1 exotic.

I was getting quite on board with the camaros and just drove a 2015 1le and sat in a brand new 2ss and while the l1e drove great the interior is such a turd, and the new gen6 wasn't really any better. The leather seats were put together so poorly that it was comical. Anyway, if I were to buy a new pony car it would definitely be the gt350.

Just my recent experience

ZL1 by far. GT350 sounds amazing, the power band is fun, but for most of the driving I do I'd rather have real power on tap.

This is a great question. On paper I love the Zl1 (it will run with a hellcat from light to light, and will run with the Shelby around the track). And being a chevy guy, I'm trying to make myself like it, but I cant for some reason. The inside feels like a coffin, and the darn suede steering wheel and shift knob are dreadful. I debated for weeks between the Zl1, Shelby and GT350. I shopped around on all 3 and street prices were - ZL1 - 59K, Hellcat 59K, Shelby 63K (dealers near me all have added markups...3K over msrp was best I could find).

I really really wanted to love the Zl1, but at the end of the day just couldn't do it. I'm just not a fan of the new styling. Shelby - I love the way the car looks, feels, drives. But it is missing that "incredible power punch of the HC and the Zl1). Hellcat (I know not part of this thread, but humor me) Incredible power, and pretty much just a cruiser and stop light to stop light fun. Great modern/retro looks and by far the best sound system of the 3. If you like the styling and interior of the Zl1 - then I think that's a no brainer and the one to go with. Personally I couldn't do it. At the end I went with the Hellcat, but thinking maybe I should have gone with the Shelby (just hard to justify a street price of nearly 30K more than a regular GT and the Shelby dare I say it...seems under powered compared to the HC and Zl1.

Interior of the Gen6 is MUCH better than the Gen5 IMO...but it does have a very low roof line and fairly small windows.

You have 2 crusty snakes with interiors that date back to the dark ages and you talk about "turd" interiors?

Ha! IRONY.

But on the positive, at least you werent brand biased enough to admit that the ol' bucket 1LE drove nice.

PS: im joking about the "crusty snakes", both of those are badass rides.

I find the 6th gen interior to be very livable. My only grip was the screen and the visibility.

Everything else is at or above par for the segment I feel.

Lol well if you want to compare two interiors designed in the 90's to something that's made now....

Interior could be better but then again I think most gearheads agree that is not the interiors that make our dicks go hard. Lol

Thats true, it's just if I were buying a brand new car I'd expect better. The camaros were among the worst I've seen in layout and quality JMO. The steering wheel in the 1le was perfect though
