What, if anything, is done to the car now performance-wise? There are SO many ways to reach what you want. If you play your cards right, you can accomplish the same effect without actually having 700RWHP.

First and foremost, get your [rear] suspension addressed. I think everybody here will agree with that. "Power is nothing without control." - Pirelli Tires Get yourself some Lower Control Arms (LCA), Upper Control Arm (UCA) (and mount), and a Watts link.

After that, it's all personal opinion on how to get there. I personally agree with getting a Whipple 2.9. With the Whipple 2.9, you can slap that on with a 2.75" pulley and change nothing else and be at your RWHP goal. You will probably be inundated with posts recommending the VMP TVS Gen 2[R]. VMP's TVS has been the bandwagon of choice the past few years, and is fast becoming the de facto blower of choice for the GT500. The VMP is a great blower, but be forewarned. The owners will tell you of huge numbers they're getting and how much cheaper it is versus the "big boys". What they'll often neglect to tell you is that they also added $3K+ in other mods to get those numbers, i.e. headers/exhaust, injectors, fuel system, fuel pump boosters, upper/lower pulleys, etc.

Anyway, we need to know more about what you want to do with the car. Street bruiser? Drag rat? Corner carver? What?

Mods in my sig. Puts me at 700 on the dot even in the South Florida heat. Bill Miller is my tuner. I been running this setup for a few years, and I cannot count the slips from the track. BTW the track is a hour in each direction.

There are many ways to get to that number, but you want to be safe with the build. I will also say just do not do power. LCA's and Driveshaft are a must IMO. Also upgrade to the H/E to stay in the power. Our shifter is crap so upgrade. LT's are optional, but good flow is always needed. The CAI is needed if your going to a bigger blower, and finally pick a blower. All will get you there. KB, Whipple, or TVS's

Just keep in mind what it is YOU want and do not be afraid to ask or challenge people questions or answers. As I said I have been running on this setup since 2011.

I'm curious to know whats needed with a 5.8 TVS to make 700rwhp?
Would it be larger injectors, full exhaust, pulley and tune?

this is a good post and agree... just not looking foward to a whip 2.9 install lol.

still undecided myself on which way to go (2.9 vs TVS).

strong! but this illustrates GT Premi's point... 700 wheel on a TVS is a FUN ride im sure but lots of supporitng mods to get there.

From what ive read, a 2.9 should do it on boost alone while keeping stock manifolds.

It will. The only things I've changed on my exhaust are the mufflers. I put a set of Corsa Sport mufflers on, and I think I actually lost a few HP compared to the stock mufflers. I've been long debating with myself whether or not I want to put the stock mufflers back on.

I still have the 3" pulley on my Whipple, and with an iced down blower, it put, I believe, 693RWHP. That was before doing anything else to the car. After the VMP tune, Killer Chiller, and drivetrain weight reduction, it might actually be putting down a sneeze over 700RWHP. I haven't had it dyno'd since then, so I don't really know what it's putting down. I like to be conservative when talking to people and say it's putting down somewhere around 660+RWHP. That's with nothing but the FRPP Whipple 2.9 kit with a VMP 93 octane tune and a less burdened drivetrain. I haven't changed injectors, exhaust, fuel system, or added any fuel pump boosters. (Although, as much as people swear everybody should have one, they almost have me convinced to buy one just for the headroom.)

I'm super content with my 2.9. Right now, my main interest is chasing efficient power production by lightening as many components as I can without ever opening up the engine. The less burdened the engine is and the less wasteful the chassis is, the more power is making its way to the wheels and the more healthy the engine will remain. That's my philosophy; lightweight, lightweight, lightweight. They can have the huge blowers, alternative/augmented (read:nitrous/meth injection) fuel, complicated fuel systems, etc. (Although, water injection isn't completely off the table.)

If I find I'm hungry for even more traction problems in the future, I'll swap in a 2.75" pulley. With that, I'll add upgraded injectors and a pump booster that all the tuners claim you "have to have" before they will give me a tune.
