Hello all, I just picked up my GT350 last week and wanted to get it ready to hit the streets before the weather breaks here in Ohio. I was thinking about getting a clear bra for the car and wanted to hear your input if you have any experience with them. The car is a white with blue tech pack, so I have reservations about the xpel coating fading on the white car.
Thanks in advance.

I don't have white, but I have clear bra on mine. Most mfr's have warranty. Check that out. I think the yellowing can be deterred by what Chen's you clean it.

Got a quote for 1550 to wrap the bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors. With xpel ultimate. How's it look with the stripes?

Are they doing the entire hood or just a strip on the hood?

I have a clear bra, but didn't do the hood strip because it's fairly noticeable and I didn't want to see the line.

To some people they don't mind, but I did.

I'm not sure it's the XPel or not, it's from 3M and I was told as long as you wax it like the paint it will be just fine and won't fade yellow any faster than your white paint will if you don't wax that.

Expel is supposed to be very good.

I have 3M on mine and very glad I did it, but wish I would have done Expel.

Look at it this way, you pay a grand and strip it off in 5-7 years because it starts to yellow. You don't do it and have rock chips over the next few years and repaint the front end for more than a grand.

Looking more affordable/attractive now?

I have various different generations of film several cars. They have come a LONG way over the 12 years I have been using them. The current xpel is amazing. I have it on a raptor, and an M3. I like to do the entire front clip, door sills (inside and out), and rear fenders ("hips" and kick up area of rear tires). I'm going to be pulling the partial film I have on a FGT, this week to finally have the entire car wrapped. Going to be expensive, but the car is worth it.

There is good and bad like anything else. I detail so 2 things. 1, it will definitely keep rock chips, tar, etc off the front, keeping your paint free from these issues. 2, scratches, deep gouges from road rash etc, will not be able to be completely buffed out and cant be shined as well as the paint so it will have a slightly different look.

Some of them look distorted when viewed with Polarized Sun Glasses. Rock chips suck, but I live with them.

I have 3m and they cut around my stripes. It alters the look of the stripe so you can see the 3m line so it did not want the clear over the stripes. I like how it came out

This is true. It kind of freaked me out the first time I saw it on my GT500.

Here are some pics of my car with Xpel ultimate - full hood, fenders, bumper, first 12" of the top, full rockers, etc. Stripes were covered in matte Xpel so as not to distort from the black matte finish of the stripes. Absolutely no yellowing in the ~3 years I've had it on.

Well I peeled the film on a car today, going to do the whole car. Amazing how well film protects. Things look perfect.

I own a high-end detail shop in Boston / MA and I have been using Xpel Ultimate for about 5 years. I have used or tried just about every film on the market and I truly believe that Xpel is the best film out there.

Not only is Xpel backed by a 10 year warranty , (including yellowing) but they are truly an awesome company too. The film has no orange peel (texture), has self-healing properties and will not stain by bugs, bird poop or tree sap. Of course the film isn't bulletproof, but it will certainly keep your paint protected and help maintain the resale value down the road.

Honestly, the price sounds a tad low, but every region is different. Make sure you've seen a few cars the company has wrapped before choosing an installer. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email at [email protected] and good luck!

Best regards,

I've got clear bra on 4 white cars now. 3M turns yellow.
XPEL film is the best you can really get. Comes with a 10 year warranty. Price is around 700-900 here in Sacramento.

I'm the same way. I want to put a film on it, but seeing that cut line will bug the hell out of me every time I see it. Anybody know how much it would cost to film the entire car and how much that would weigh??

The prices would vary I'm sure, but basically you're doing a "wrap" at that point I think a good starting place is around 1k or so.

Weight wouldn't be an issue.

If it's just a grand, that's not bad at all, considering the whole car is being protected, minus the gray plastic parts.

Yeah you'll have to check around and find out but that's a good starting point.
