Hey guys I recently bought a 2011 Shelby GT500 SVTPP completely stock and I just wanted to know what are come common issues people have had with the car and how they fixed it, or any odd noises that basically come with buying the car like driveshaft whine and etc...

MGW2 -- cant argue w/ all the reviews -- I got a deal on the Barton and it is still a monster upgrade over the OEM shifter.
i would get one of those brands -- its a complete design upgrade. not something lame like changing bushings, spacers or other band-aid fixes.

This is money well spent.

Anything else? Is it true that this car basically is standard with some sort of driveshaft whine and its normal?

i never notice any whine or I never thought it was a problem. However, I didnt keep the car stock that long -- so, there is alot of competition for noise in my vert.

FYI -If you are on the stock tires.. you should be fine in the warm months but they are seriously dangerous in the cold!

Thats the hardest decision I have to make right now. The car came with a 4yr/48000 full powertrain warranty but I want to start modding it but if I do the warranty is voided and warranty is nice haha

The only issues are the 1-2 shift and horrible off-the-line traction. A few people had clutch issues. Most did not.

Looking back, I would say first order up is to get rid of the factory soft rubber bushings in the rear suspension. Next would be combating heat soak which will keep you from getting embarrassed by slower cars.

As stated, shifter and trans fluid upgrade.

Im running an MGW gen 2 and Redline D4 ATF. Combined with a WOT Box for no lift shifting and 1-2 grind under heavy load is all but gone.

I would call this a manditory week 1 upgrade if you plan on driving this car hard. You will literally have no regrets.

Now the WOTBox is a hard wire in unit, some cutting and splicing will need to be done but its not horrible by any means. Had i known of its power as a shift aid, i would have made it my 2nd mod no questions asked. For the record, i have the 2 step launch controller thats built into the WOT box turned OFF until i upgrade the engine lower timing gear, oil pump gears and install thicker 8mm timing chain tensioner pivot posts.

After that, a swap to a 2.5" upper SC pulley, 90mm idler and intake should be next. Add a passenger side PCV oil catch can if you can swing it. The sooner the better.

I found the factory differential breather had a tendancy to puke diff fluid out after a few runs down the track. JLT makes a very nice catch can that eliminates the issue.

A warning about polyurethane bushings: on the street, roll racing, and road course setups poly is fine. For drag racing fairly regularly from a dig, the shock of launching with slicks WILL blow out poly urethane bushings. Every poly bushing i had on my car blew out. Ive since swapped to rod end controll arms. There is noise increase, but its something you'll have to consider depending on what you want to do with the car.

Gear whine: if your gears are NOT whining right now DO NOT drag race with slicks yet. Install a Swarr or CHE rear axle brace AND a ford racing G2 diff cover first. I firmly belive that in GT500s, the 8.8 rear end needs some beefing up. I believe the diff carrier deflects under load with slicks causing a poor gear contact pattern. This pattern i believe is what causes the whine issue. biminilx seems to have had great results with the G2 and brace.

Welcome to the addiction brother.

I've never had issues with the factory shifter once I got use to it. There's definitely room for improvement though. I just don't consider it a must first mod. The factory rear suspension scared me shitless when hit my first bump in the highway at speed.

The shift problem is worse in 11-12 than other years. I definitely consider the MGW a day 1 upgrade. I've kept all my stock parts... except the stock shifter. That thing went into the trash, where it belongs.

That whine you're hearing is probably your rear gears.

The other day 1 change is to throw away the stock Goodyear tires if you still have those. Literally any other tire is better.

Eventually you will want to upgrade to a dual-fan heat exchanger. The stock unit is just not up to the job.

Same here, but after I installed my Whipple and Killer Chiller. I think I started ordering suspension parts the next day! (And I haven't stopped modding the suspension since.)

So today from work there is about a 2 miles long road going to base and it was about 530 am and I decided to test the ole car out and she what she could do.. I have never been so scared in my life. The car began to move side to side with every bump I hit and even thought it was somewhat controllable it was scary to feel that and I need to invest in a Watts link, LCA and UCA but it would void my warranty I have on the vehicle...

A warranty can not be voided unless an aftermarket part can prove it was at fault... its a law but doesnt mean the warranty company wont try. So, a suspension upgraded part shouldnt void a motor issue. Who is the warranty company?

530 am in VA is probably not ideal road conditions -- your tires need to be really hot to hook up. That street was probably cold and may even have some dew. Even if you upgrade the suspension never drive 'hard' this rear wheel drive monster in wet or cold street conditions !!

Suspension has nothing to do with your power train...

No experience personally with USWC but in the past I have learned that most third party warranties aren't worth the paper they are printed on.

Today it was 86. It was not a ordinary day haha
It defn wasnt that warm at 5:30am -- you need the pavement to be pretty hot and warmed up tires. For example - I am not stock but not really extreme - I was driving straight @ 80mph and decided to punch the gas while in 4th gear and my rear end started to get sideways... it was around 65 degrees outside.
