I'm considering buying a 2.9L Whipple for my 13'. Currently bone stock w/9k on it and I will be driving ~ 15k annually. Looking for more power (of course), improved torque curve/throttle response, fuel economy, durability, and will honestly be happy w 675rwhp - 700rwhp. Either way planning JLT CAI, 65mm Dual CJTB, LT's/Catted mid pipe, colder plugs, thermostat, and custom tune. Choice is between smaller upper pulley on factory TVS or going up to 2.9L w mild boost ~ 18psi.

Pros/Cons? Heat/Durability/Power Under the curve? Oh and not planning to swap the 3.31 gears out.

Feedback/Thoughts please. Thanks

Consider a 13-6 kit from Revan Racing first!

Parts install and custom dyno tune will be handled by Sam at Coastal Dyno down here in Tampa. Really just looking for opinions on these 2 super charger options for my specific application.

For the goals you listed keep the stock TVS get a different pulley and save the 3-4k in costs of the whipple. You should easily hit the 675-700 whp mark with what you have listed. The TVS will have a lot more tq as well at 675-700 hp.

ATI 10% OD lower with the mods you have listed on the stock tvs and you will have a better torque curve. Also consider a dual bap(or return fuel system if you don't like baps) with ID injectors if you have E85 available locally. This will yield even better power with more knock resistance.

Like everyone is saying, go with the Revan 13-6 kit that will put you were you want to be hp wise...and you save $$$...If you want a whipple or kenne bell like I have, your goals should be 750-800 whp max and either of those blowers will easily get you there with a lot less heat than spinning that little tvs at those hp levels...Good luck

Actually curious if the TVS pullied down w 2.4 upper would produce hotter air temps post SCr than a 2.9L barely working w say a 3.625" pulley? Would the TVS really make more tq < 5000 rpms? Would the Whipple produce safer results due to not spinning hard to produce ~ same boost level (i.e.: less heat/hp to turn)?

Sounds like either would get me where I want to go but clearly more upside in the Whipple for the future. Will a Whipple reliably perform for 50k on a daily driver over several years? TVS is engineered to be OEM so know it can.

I make 735rwhp with just an upper and those mods. I love the TVS.

Nice pwr! I guess what I'd like to know is say at ~ 725rwhp would a pullied TVS setup or a Whipple 2.9 setup with larger 3.625" pulley (same boost) be safer power? Based on efficiency of the SC'r, Air Temps, etc. Any argument for that rationale?

supercharger upgrades on the Trinity motor make no sense unless you plan to build the motor.

The stock TVS is a bad ass unit good for over 800 whp. Add bolt ons, save money, and enjoy the power.

Besides, if you want to whipple the car, why add a 2.9? Would make more sense build the motor then go bigger..

Called Whipple and they largely agreed that the 2.9L was not a sizable enough difference over the TVS on a stock motor car especially leaving it pretty mildly tuned on 93 octane for daily driving. Given all the feedback I'm going to pass on the 2.9 for now and go w JLT CAI, FRPP dual 65mm TB, LT's, high flow catted mid-pipe, 2.4" upper pulley, and a custom tune. If that gets me 675rwhp or better with good drivability I'll be very happy until circumstances or finances allow for the car to become a garage queen/full build.

Price the individual items up yourself and save money plus I think that company is gone ... selling lights or gardening or something like that .
Hmm. I hadn't heard that news and would be a little saddened to learn that it's true.

For those suggesting the OP get the 13-6 Revan Racing Kit does that include the the 2.4 upper + 10% lower and still be safe with stock fuel delivery at 93 octane ?

Revan's website is still up. The 13 kit can include a 2.396 upper, but if you want to add a lower also that's the 800 rwhp kit and E85 is the recommended fuel for that much boost.
