When the weather gets a tad nicer here in Va, I'm going to climb under the car and see about putting my own switching system on my exhaust baffles. I want to have the stay locked closed when they are set to closed and locked open, when set to open.

Has anyone done this yet? Looking for tips and tricks.

Now bare with me I haven't looked at them but I wonder if a constant hot wire from the battery would do it. That would work to keep it open all the time I think but it opens on its own when you have it closed and lay into it. That I wonder if it may be set up on pressure or the computer for a certain rpm to open. I'm just babbling

Ironically, nowadays, we can figure out how to do anything mechanically, but we don't know how to (re)program the computers that run the mechanicals.

Other posts on other forums say that if the ECU can't open the valves and close them when it wants to, it throws a code and puts the engine in limp mode. That quick blast of sound at a cold start is the ECU cycling them to make sure they're working.

Soooo.... if you change the controls so that you're in charge, you have to find a way to fake them operating or the ECU will take your toys away. Another bit of speculation is that they have to open at full throttle or the mufflers will over heat. That sounds a bit dodgy to me, but hey, I'm just passing it on.

I'm not too worried about doing any wiring... Should be pretty straight forward, but the Info you're passing on is exactly what I am looking for.

That last car I had that went into limp mode was a 2013 Mustang GT. It recovered on its own. I don't mind experimenting with it, as long as if I return it to stock, it self recovers too.
