Debating clutch options

It has been a while since I have looked at any Mustang forums. I, like many, have the problem of the clutch sticking to the floor, and high RPM lockout. I understand that the high RPM lockout can be remedied by replacing the clutch. Has it still been proven the case or absolutely confirmed since last I had looked? I have considered replacing my stock clutch with an exedy 500 clutch, mostly due to my very little driving and no track time. I have only put 6000 miles on my car over the last 3 years. I am just looking for the final solution to make my car drive and shift like a car this fun should. With my old 95 Mustang and TKO 600 transmission, I could bang gears and never have to worry about missing your shift. I would like to have at least a little bit of reliability when shifting at or near Red Line.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts, this clutch I'm selecting is based on price and us, if there is anything better feel free to throw some ideas my way.

I had an Exedy Mach 600 on my boosted 12 GT and never had lockout so I may go that route again myself. Clutch will be the first major driveline mod I do on this car It seems like the lockout is worse on my 13 Boss than the 12 GT I had.

I agree with this, i had two GT's that didnt have the clutch issue as bad as my 13' Boss. Part of me wants to take it to the dealer to see if they will replace it, part of me wants to skip the situation all together and just replace it with a proper performance clutch and get back to enjoying my car.

My '13 Boss has the same issue. I installed the Blowfish bracket and it helped the feel of the stock shifter tremendously. I still get lockout at about 5500 rpm on occasion and just the not knowing if it's going into gear is enough to take the spontaneity out of the driving experience. I decided to bypass the dealer and just got out my wallet. I ordered a McLeod RST with the Mcleod lightened steel flywheel from Lethal Performance. I already have the MGW Race Spec and a JPC braided line waiting to go in at the same time. It's a tough decision, TRDon as there is so much good product out there and so many have had excellent results with Exedy and Spec. I decided primarily because I wanted the reduced MOI of the smaller unsprung clutch discs and the light pedel. Good luck with your hunt!

If you do mostly street driving with some occasional track use we would recommend our Dual Friction kit. The centrifugal weight system on the pressure plate reduces pedal effort and makes it a breeze to drive on the street!

I just finished putting a Mcleod Extreme Street in my 11 GT. It has a GT350 intake, so it peaks about 7200 and I encountered the clutch pedal staying on the floor with the stock clutch.

It has less travel before its completely out, and it releases a bit closer to the floor (partially my fault for not checking the slave to pressure plate gap). I've got a tad over 300 miles on it, so sometime this weekend it should be fully broken in and I'll report back if it solved my clutch pedal issues.

The Extreme Street did not solve my high rpm issues...... But I have been in contact with Mcleod about it, I'll update when I know more.

My RST is almost broke in. Getting used to the soft pedal feel was painful...like learning to drive all over again lol. The Steeda assist spring, installed today, helped a lot. Hopefully in a few days I'll know if my occasional lockout is remedied.
