Backup camera in Trunk Key Hole!

I'm in the middle of a project to accomplish this right now, if anyone is interested in a write up once I have completed it I would be more than happy to do so. I'm also trying to do it in a way that will make it reversible, so you will be able to put the cylinder back in if you ever decide to sell... If there is enough interest I would be happy to do it, but would rather not do all the work if no one will use it haha

Why not mount it above the license plate in between the 2 lights ? Mine has been there a while with no issues. A little low I know but useable.

I've been back and forth about this position and the keyhole. I've been leaning towards above the license plate for an easier install and I won't lose the ability to open the trunk when the battery is out of the car. I'm still open to see how the OP does it.

It really wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. All you have to do is drill out the rivet on the cylinder and find a camera that fits in the opening.

I purchased this one from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L8X73BG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it fits nice and snug.

The reason I wanted to do it this way was to avoid any drilling into the trunk panel.

You can find the reverse signal wire here: Reverse Color:black/pink Polarity:+ Location:GEM above driver kick, white 26 pin plug, pin 20 so your head unit turns on the feed when you're in reverse. The red wire on the video cable is what I used to connect from the camera to the radio so I can view the camera when not in reverse as well. You do get a the very last part of the bodywork in the camera picture (annoying ring), so I will explore other ways to push the camera out a little more.

There is a cut out above so it can be pulled through the trunk...From there just down the drivers side under back seat, plastics and to back of receiver.

Was a little tight to tighten the nut for the reverse camera but never removed the bumper cover.

Regrettably I used the reverse light for power. I wish I had just used the signal wire so I can check it while not in reverse.

Not a factory cut out right? You had to drill into it? I just ordered a different style (for $20 why not) that is a dome that can be adjusted, this should get rid of seeing the edge of the opening in the camera, but will also allow me to mount it between the license plate lights if I choose. It's just a big decision for me to cut a whole in the deck lid...

I need to check that camera out. I bought a "keyhole" camera a few years ago but it was a hair too big. Have been trying tomdo something like this photo:

This is what it looks like when installed. Like I said I have ordered another style that is the same size but the camera isn't flush (I am getting the outline of the bodywork in the picture) so by having the camera slightly further from hole should do the trick. But if you're not OCD and can deal with the picture being a circle on your head unit, that link will be perfect :)

Good deal. I did the same thing on mine last summer. I know what you mean about the circle. It would be nice to lose the tunnel vision but I guess it still does the job.

I've thought about using some type of lens to try to eliminate it (like a door peep hole). If I find something that works, I'll post it.
