Everyone seems to be on the same page as far as the value of these cars. But what’s the consensus as far as the value added by have extensive paperwork/documentation and all OEM parts?

Just like with my vintage Shelby(s), the more paperwork and documentation, the easier it is to sell. Same goes for having all of the original parts. Cars with documented race history (SCCA/NASA) and log books also can sometimes command a premium, or in some cases, the know history of body damage and replacement can sometimes hurt the value. In at least one case a complete BIW rebuild was documented for a certain 95R, but that was in the middle of the racing season..

Or, like 95R #99, the entire nose section of the unibody was replaced during restoration after the person I sold it to smacked it hard into a tire wall at 120+MPH at the Autobahn (Illinois), pushing the nose over by almost a foot....Again all documented, but yet not disclosed by the current owner/seller in Ohio, who states it is "all original paint"........LOL......

I don't think I've ever seen a 93 in the 30s, but boy would I have my check book ready if I did. Love those, but hard to justify one at 2x the price of a comparable condition SSC.

I've seen a few in the high 30's/ low 40's. I bid on one a few years ago on eBay and it sold at 43k. If I remember correctly it had 1800 miles.

I believe the prices reflect an original vehicle with proper documentation. If modified, it would be unusual for it to add value but there would be special situations. Lack of paperwork would hurt value.

He said he wanted an 00R in one of the threads below... But he wants it in his area which is undefined. He could live in California, New York or Asia.

there are quite a few for sale on the various internet sales outlets, what are you looking for as far as miles, condition, originality, paperwork, pricing, etc?

I'm open to miles and condition and I want a good deal. I already received high ask emails. Not interested. One sold earlier this week with 500 miles or so for $42k. I'm looking to be far south of that. 30's preferably.

Thanks,

Al

i saw that one at mecum, bear in mind with buyers fees and bidders registration the new owner probably paid 46-47k, most owners on here would likely agree that was a steal at face value. prices have been creeping up over the last few years and most owners seem to be resilient about letting a car go for that low. if you want a car in the 30's you will probably be looking at a car with some miles and minor condition issues and probably without paperwork.

I'd be fine with that. I've had cars in the past that you can't drive because of having low miles, it was zero fun.

I'd even be open to a car with track time, mods, etc.

I go with +10% with extensive paper work.

I agree with the median shown above for my 3.4L and 5.8L: [The 95R is almost faster but 20 years older and a liitle more heavy]:

How am I doing anything wrong? As one who buys and sells many of these cars my head is not in the sand on the market. As for your statement "conflict of interest" my assignment for SCM is to write about 50 cars of interest at the auction. Can you find me any of the above mentioned cars for the median values? If so, I'm ready to buy!

I agree on Morgan Worth's low to high values....I have owned a number of R's
since 2004....Pre-recession value for a 93R wrapper was at 100K at the high-point.....and 500-mile non-wrapper cars are now selling in the mid-60K range....A few years ago, a 1000-mile 2000R could be had in the low 40's, now 50's.....I have seen a 20% rise in market value on these cars, with the exception of the
95R....I think another few years, and we will see these cars at pre-recession levels again.....

You joined this site in 2009. Please stop using periods...

Where are you basing your $100K and $60K values from?

I like all of them and have been around here for well over 10 Years.

You guys need to post results and pictures before I will change my opinion. I agree with the magazine's median values. We otherwise call this on the NYSE as "talking up your book". You own it, but you can't clarify your optimistic future values.

I am listening for values of the cars that you will post.

Here is mine (Not for sell but maybe $22K?):

No race history, deduct $10,000

Hey, I'd buy another one in the same condition for $12K. ;) Please PM me as soon as you find one in that price range.

The east coast vintage racing organizations moved the Cobra R's (aka, Motorola Cup cars) from the racing groups that they were competitive in and placed them in racing groups with modern IMSA/LeMans race cars like the Porsche 911 GT3 and the Corvettes C6 & C7's.

All of the Cobra R cars stopped racing. So, they are good for open track events or towing to car shows. They are not street legal in my location. I suspect that it would be easy to buy one at a good price today.
