I'm doing research on people to build my motor. I don't want L&M and I don't want Livernois. Anyone running a motor from someone else who they recommend? My main concern is having it built correctly and since I will be shipping it out I would like to get the parts I pay for and trust whoever is doing it. Thanks!

OP- what are you looking to have done? I know you said "built", but are you looking for beefier rods, billet cam/oil gears, upgraded pistons, worked heads? Just wondering.
I'm also assuming you're using your stock block.

MPR built my engine. I haven't got the car running yet but everything looks great so far. I was going to use L&M but their prices were a lot higher and they don't have the best reviews recently either

Yes I like to send my current block out. So dissemble the long block, bore, hone, then go with diamond pistons (maybe haven't fully decided on pistons) Manley I-beam rods for sure, ARP bolts throughout main studs ect, King rod bearings, tool steel pins, tss oil pump gears.

Not looking to do cams as of now or heads. Honestly only looking for about 750-850rwhp. The car is mainly a street car, very seldom a strip car so no need for more power. I want a stock like feel with idle and drivability that will last a very long time. Cams will run an extra $1,700 from what I've researched with NSR or something similar but I think it's too much for the power level I want and can be accomplished without them easily. I want to be able to mod with bolt on's without having to worry about a rod breaking leading to a hole in my block is the main reason for wanting to do it now. Rather spend less now than have that happen and spend double and replace a $6K block on top of it.

what all did you go with for the build? Also I got quoted from L&M already for just under $10k. But that was before I read the horror story on here, well parts of it, a buddy told me about it but I couldn't find the thread anymore just pieces in other threads

Smart Move staying clear of L&M.....way to much money to even think about gambling......Go with MPR, BES, MPS, RGR or JDM to name a few.......All shops will usually be with 5% of each .....If any of my motors let go tomorrow Tim @ MPR will be getting my money

MPS in North Carolina or MPR in Florida would be my first two calls.

JDM, Livernois, Accufab are all great too.

Mine is currently at MPS being built with Accufab stuff inside.

I went with a new 5.8 block that MPR sleeved with Darton sleeves, billet Bryant crankshaft, diamond piston, Manley billet rods, all ARP hardware, accufab timing components and the heads are ported with bigger valves and custom cams.

These cars have spray in liners and are bored out about as far as you can go from the factory.

Happy JDM customer here and many shop listed here have good reps, but my personal experience would give the nod to JDM.
Thanks again Jim III :)
