car looks outstanding and Ford did a GREAT job overall on this refresh..whats not to like?

As much as i like it, it might be an awesome time to grab a '17 for a deep discount.

Sub $30k '17 with auto, add choice of forced induction, go run 9s.

awesome platform!!

I got around 9-10K in incentives when I bought my 14, Autonation in Katy/Houston was matching MFR incentives and then some to move the S197s. They are already doing pretty good deals on S550s and I suspect they will get even better soon.

If that is the case... hopefully SA has something planned for once the GT350 is out of production. I would love to send my car to SA. Not that companies like Lethal aren't putting out amazing products, but it seems fitting for a car that already flies the Shelby monogram to at least have an option to go to Shelby American.

I think Ford has SAI pigeonholed. Ford won't supply them with GT350s or Voodoo engines, and Ford still owns the rights to the GT500 monicker (and probably now own the rights to the GT350 monicker.) As such, the current Super Snake will probably slot right between the GT350 and the next GT500.

This new Super Snake is more a successor to SAI's '11-'14 GT350 than it is the GT500 Super Snake. Shelby does have a history with turbo 4s. They probably should have upfitted the Ecoboost and called it a Turlingua. That probably would've sold like hotcakes. Imagine people being able to brag about having a "true" Shelby with a 4-banger that outperforms the GT350/GT350R in a straight line and in the twisties.

I like the styling update though I'm not a huge fan of that orange/yellow color ( I recall someone referring to it as "nuclear banana" on the Focus ST ). I think the new styling ques will look best on dark colors like deep blue or gray w/ black splitter offsetting the color.

That being said for me the HUGE story is all the mechanical upgrades! It pretty much sounds like Ford damn near re-engineered this car mid-cycle under the skin:

- TWO new transmissions
- Magnaride suspension w/ track pack
- direct injection Coyote heads ( AT LAST! )

Given the 10 spd auto will have paddle shifters and word is it's capable of shifting as fast as a true dual-clutch trans I'm thinking it's a good bet it'll be an available option w/ the track pack given Ford seems to be serious about making track capable cars these days.

Also the direct injection Coyote heads + port injection seems a huge deal! With everyone expecting 450 - 475 hp stock it seems like 500 n/a hp to the wheels, the magic 100hp/liter barrier, is achievable w/ just a modest bit of aftermarket assistance!

I'll be curious to see how soon for makes this di/pi engine available as a crate package and/or how difficult it would be to swap the heads to a current Coyote engine? To me this new set up represents Coyote 2.0!

I guess my major gripe with the new Mustang would be the start/stop feature.
Why put that on a Mustang?! (Can you imagine being at a red light or stop sign and no V8 rumble?!?) ppppppffffffttttttttttt
Should be easily disabled though with the hit off a button, hopefully. I'm sure the tuners will be working on something to permanently keep it for coming back with a tune.

I have a lot of younger Euro car friends, including my 17/yo son that has a VW GTI. Them, and the Europeans, always considered the Mustang a primitive, old man, American throwback. This new car gets their attention with the styling and legit tech and performance. It checks all the boxes they are looking for. Realistically they are the future buyers, and in todays market if you sit still you will die. Look at the Viper, it didn't keep up with tech and now they're killing it.

THIS!!! THIS RIGHT HERE!!!!

Remember Fords marketing objective for the Mustang HAS to be the 25 - 35 y.o. demographic. That's where you hook people in for life hopefully and that's a group that is hyper conscious to innovation and new technology . Solid rear axle and a clunky T5 transmission would never cut it w/ that crowd no matter how much hp you throw at them. As an earlier poster put it, the Mustang is looking to be the "poor man's" ( relatively speaking ) 911 subsequently it's gotta bring the whole package - styling, handling, tech and power.

the front end in my opinion looks worse than the 15-17. That's the only thing keeping me from being interested but the new 5.0, digital cluster, quad tip active exhaust, and other various upgrades over my 07 Shelby keeps me coming back and talking a second look. I'll pass final judgement when the autoshow comes to town. But ultimately I'm looking for the new GT500 to drop with a twin turbo new 5.0 and GT350 like front and rear end. That's what could end up opening my wallet.

I don't like the front end either.....yuck! definitely a step in the wrong direction imho. Should have done something closer to The new roush front end......I even like the current 15-16 Standrad front better than the new one.

I think this is the result you get when you do too much wind tunnel testing...lol. I think ford needs to lay off the wind tunnel and give us good ol fashion aggressive design for men. Unfortunately, I feel we are the old classic loose fit levi's living in the "skinny jean" era.

Okay Bret Farve.

Cause no man ever wore tight fitting pants in the 50's, 60's or 70's.

You do realize the 501 was the "normal" cut back then, right? Levi introduced the "slim fit" in 1961.

Looking at the front end more, I can actually see hints of the Ford GT in it. Look at the blades at the lower outer edges of the fascia then look at the front of the FGT.

Why would you expect weight reduction during a redesign? Wait for 2020 when it's actually a new platform...

Ok hold on. I didn't mean to hurt your feeling on your style. I just used it as a reference to show classic style vs new age. I remember people felt the same way when the sn95 was introduced. I felt the 15 design was a fail. It wasn't until I saw the GT350 in person that I was like "That's badass!".
