So last May I lifted a head during a track pass on my TVS'd Aluminator motor (stock head bolts) and torched part of the block when the combustion gasses escaped.

I knew I was pushing the TVS pretty hard (Aprox. 850rwhp) and figured while I was rebuilding the motor I'd also make the change over from the TVS to a CPR Turbo kit.

The main new pieces of the build consist of:
MPR sleeved shortblock, 10.5:1 Diamond pistons, Callies Ultra Billet I beam rods, Total Seal Rings, all ARP hardware.
2015 heads with TrickFlow valve springs, stock cams. All upgraded ARP hardware.
ATI Balancer
Boss intake

Built 6R80 from PBTH, Exedy Stage 2 Clutches w/Billet Input Shaft
CircleD 2B converter w/ SFI Flex Plate

CPR kit for power, eBoost2 to control it.

Sai Li for tuning.

It's been a long build, and of course had some snags along the way. Here in the Pacific NW we're in the dead of winter, so it has been difficult to get any real test hits in but I'm hoping to get on the dyno soon. I need to dial in my boost groups and get ready for the track come spring!

I've done 100% of the work in my garage, and here are some pictures I took along the way.

very nice upgrade- Shame you have those up tight tracks that wont let you run your car to its potential- do they ever have any private rentals that they will turn a blind eye to lack of a full cage- So glad I live where I do- Best of luck with a awesome build you did.

Very nice, post your impression.

So far I haven't had a real opportunity to lay into it but the 2B is a nice driving converter, the turbo spools quickly (Not TVS instant, but.. different) and I LOVE that I have about 500hp+ of controllable boost range by just hitting a few buttons on the boost controller.

The curve of the turbo is very different than the TVS but I'm super excited to run it out once it's a bit drier and warmer outside.

Thank you! The tracks are stricter here for sure but even as it is I can always sneak one to two full power runs per visit lol. I found a place not far from me that I may let put in a nice 8.50 cert cage to be more legal.

You had a hell of a Christmas. Upgrades when a 9 second pass won't cut it any more. I guess 8's are the new 10's.:D

awesome build and nice work! what rpm are you seeing full boost?

3500-4k I'd say, it's hard to tell on the street exactly with my street tires on the car (waiting for dyno time). You nail the throttle and then it comes up on boost and skates pretty good lol, then look down and check the peak boost on the controller. That is about the only way you can see what's going on right now haha.

I can say it made 27 psi by 4k during some controller/WG "testing" exercises.

Well, it wasn't intended at the time so between the spark blow out and me letting out immediately it didn't really feel special lol. I think the immediate plan is probably low 20s PSI for track mode.

wow awesome! similar build to mine. jus curious why u didn't go with some Turbo cams since everything was out? I am on the fence about switching up cams wen I tackle the bottom end soon

yea I came from a TVS as well and I feel the power comes on much more linear and doesnt blow the tires off instantly. but shit if my Turbo came on any faster I wud want to slow it down. I too have the 76/87 and its near perfect.

Ive actually considered the 80mm since this one comes on so fast. but the best part is the power is now controllable. with my TVS it was a more of a tire spinning contest with very little ability to control the power. spinnen aint winnen

Well, I didn't really see a need for changing up cams it seems the stockers can do just fine even over 1200rwhp so to me I just didn't feel the need.

One of the best attributes from PD blower to turbo is being able to change power level to suit environment by pushing a few buttons.

Driving around with the DD setup on my TVS was the 800rwhp setup, but even on the highway from a 60 roll on DRs it would spin bad even though it dead hooked at the track.

fair point. I wud be more interested in bringing up the RPM's and making the STREET tune a little more efficient in the boost range ur lookn for.

and yea if u opt for the AMS 2000 then u get 5 tunes to select from. got that on my bike and its great. no laptop. jus turn knob and if u wanna run race gas all u do is add gas and turn knob again lol

probably wudnt make that much difference either way with the cams I jus figured since u had it out u wud throw some in.

I did that with my Turbo Busa wen I had the motor out. most just leave em in but I added some Turbo cams and I really cudnt tell if it made a difference or not cause I changed everything basically including the Turbo so IDN maybe its a waste and maybe it will have made driving the Mustang on the street not so fun.....

I wud think somthn mild tho wudnt make the car drive much different then stock with all the cam table adjustments available for these motors u can pretty much tune them to do anything u want.

It seems pretty good as it is honestly. I'm sure gains are possible but even as is on WG pressure only it can barely hold regular street tires from a 60 roll so it's making some steam.

I only have these on until after the dyno though, street duty is usually MT 275/60s, track duty goes for the MT Pros.
