All, I would welcome any guidance you may have as to fair market value for a one owner, under 5K miles, 2013 Boss 302 with Recaro package and optional cover (not a Laguna Seca car). Asking price is $39K. When I look at recent actual closed sales of similar cars on eB*y, I see $33K to $34K, maybe $35K, but the sample size there is small. I do see lots of cars listed at $37K-$39K which appear in multiple relistings, suggesting few buyers (at least in that venue) at or close to those asking prices. In some cases, previous auctions with a robust number of bids and different bidders reveal a high bid that is short of the unknown reserve and often ~$3K below the seller's buy it now price. The popular price guides, fwiw, point to mid $30K range with these options and mileage (but they aren't selling cars, obviously). We like these cars greatly and I'll pay a bit over market if that's what it takes to land the right car, but I am not eager to find I have paid 15%+ more than that. Have followed Marketplace listings but many there are modded, sometimes with $7K-$10K of performance parts, so I'm not sure how to interpret figured there. And in any case, a fair number of cars seem to take some time to sell, so hard to know if a car listed at, say, $36K for six months actually sold at that price or a lower amount. Not looking to set off any controversies here, but would welcome any candid feedback you folks might offer here in the thread or via PM. Thanks!

I can honestly say I have no research on this, I do look around from time to time. It appears to me mid to low 30s is a real number these days. Maybe with just 5k miles you could ask 36-37k take anything over 34-35k. My Boss has 19k and has suspension mods with higher end wheels and I would think ask 35k take 33-34k.... But I'm not selling.
Don't know if that helps

Thanks, 13COBRA, for your feedback on this pricing question. Hope others who may have timely perspective on actual recent selling prices for low mileage unmodified Boss 302s will weigh in and appreciate any additional light this forum might shed on my question.

Thanks for this datapoint CobraKai. The LS option was pricey--may I ask what you might feel would be a fair price for the same car without that option, which is close to what I'm considering?

I recently purchased my 2012 Boss with 9300 miles for $35,900.00. Purchased it from a dealer and they originally listed it for $39,900.00....after two days of back and forth they got it down to what I considered a good deal.

I was considering trading in my 13 LS and dealers would only give me 32K. I would'nt sell it for less than 39/40K. I think 34 to 35 is a fair price for what your looking at. These cars I do believe will become a collectors car market isn't there yet .

This is a really hard question to answer because of all of the factors involved. Because it is a niche car people get passionate about it and that goes both ways. Owners feel that the cars are worth more than they really are and often buyers will pay more than the car is worth because of the perception that it is special. This can inflate costs and make it hard to really asses the vehicles true value. When looking for my Boss I saw prices all over the place. On the low end with moderate mileage they were just north of $30K. On the high end with low miles and the LS package they were in the mid $40's. Ultimately the car I wanted to buy was being offered up at a specialty dealership for over 45K with 2400 miles. It was pretty much brand new with all of the extras still in unopened boxes. It also included a voucher for Trackey. I loved the car and told them if they would give me any price under 40K it was a deal. They called me two days later and I got the car for $39.9 Ha! To me it was worth it. I had seen non LS Boss' going for the same price. I was also coming off of a quest for a new GT350, which was putting me around $70-$80K. So it kind of seemed like a steal! Ultimately getting the exact car you want, color and options will dictate how much you are willing to pay. I think that if you get exactly what you want, it is worth it to pay a premium. That being said, if you are not too picky and are patient you will eventually find a deal and can save some money. I am demanding and impatient, so rarely get a good deal. I can tell you this, if you get a Boss you will be happy, and the money will seem well spent. It really is an amazing car. I highly recommend the Laguna Seca if it is something you are interested in. You couldn't build a better car for the extra money it costs. Good luck and keep us posted on your pursuit!

Thanks much, CobraKai. Just eyeballing the original pricing when new, LS package was a $7000 option, so based on your buy at $39.9K for a LS optioned car with 2400 miles, I would imagine a car without that option might have gone for something like $36K, maybe $36.5K. But as you call out, every seller, buyer, and car is different and in the end getting a car one will love at a price one can live with is most important of all.

Something else to consider, the Boss 302 LS originally had an MSRP close to $50K. Dealer markups were anywhere from $10K to $40K. Although plenty of people claimed to get them at MSRP or even under. Based on those numbers the car is a steal just 4 years later and often with hardly any mileage accumulated. Hard to go wrong!

2 months ago I picked up a 2013 with 800 (yeah, hundred) miles on it for 33,900. All options, Race Red. Untouched. Plastic still on steeering column. Original owner paid $52K. He passed away not long after purchase (Older gentleman.) I bought it from his son. The car was his dad's dream car. It was my dream car too. I am blessed to have it. I hope that helps.

It's not just the price of the LS package that adds to the value over a regular Boss, but also the fact that there weren't many made (765 each year from 2012-13).
