So i'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the VMP TVS for my cobra, the car currently has a 4LB lower and I was thinking of keeping it on and doing a 3.3 upper. VMP says that should be around 18psi. My car 1 7/8s headers and full 3 inch exhaust so maybe the boost will be a little lower. Any one running this setup on pump gas? not sure if I should drop down to a 2LB lower

I would not go over 18-19psi on pump gas. At least thats what I was advised by my tuner. I am running TVS 2.3 w/ GT500 TB, stock lower, 2.8 upper and make 18-19psi depending on weather. It's still holding together and I dog it every day to work and back!

Thats good to hear and yes I agree anything over 19psi on pump gas is a little risky, I'll probably continue to run torco for some insurance.

OP I'm an authorized VMP dealer and reseller. Hit me up before you pull the trigger and I'll see what deal I can get you. Shoot me a PM when ready.

Im running a 3.1/4lb on mine with GT500 tb, 1 3/4 3" collector long tubes catless. I make 19lbs. When I was on 93, I ran a 3.2/4lb and made 18lbs. I ran the 19psi setup with 93 for a couple dyno pulls as I wanted both tunes for insurance, and my tuner said everything looked good on my car if I wanted to go back to 93 for whatever reason. But I'm sure that varies car to car setup wise.

If I were you I would keep the 4lb lower just so you have some flexibility with the upper and better combat belt slip.

Op I ran the same set up. 3.3 upper 4lb lower. Put me right between 18-19psi of boost which imo is perfect on 93 pump gas. I have the accufab sbtb. 1 3/4 long tubes full 3" exhaust no cats

3.0" upper, stock lower was 17psi on stock manifolds with an off road pipe.

Id just hit Malcolm up and get a tvs with an upper to work with a stock lower and go back to stock. If you have plans for tons of boost then keep the aftermarket lower. Fyi if you need a custom upper theres a place in Florida that makes custom upper pulleys for about $160. I had them make me a 3.55" tvs pulley to work with my 4lb caged lower.

Im going to run 91 pump with Torco full time. So I should be ok. I'm eventually going to E85

nice, I would prefer to be around 17psi, but I don't want to get rid of my lower

If I make more than 19psi I'll be ordering a custom upper pulley.

So what are you guys making for power on pump with your TVS on 18psi ??? I'm going for 600whp

Mine made 595 whp at 18psi with an LFP single blade. I don't remember the torque number but I want to say it was 555. Adding the gt500 tb and adding the one pound of boost made 616hp/587tq on 93.

I run a 2.8 upper with a 4 lb lower on a 10.5 CR built motor. Ported heads, cams etc, 1 7/8 long tubes, 3" catless exhaust. I have a MAP sensor so I can data log boost exactly through out the pull. The majority of the pull is bouncing around 23 PSI, I usually see a 24 PSI spike right at 4k rpms. As it closes in on 7k RPMs it's closer to 22 PSI. I wouldn't even think of trying to do pump gas. E85 only car.

Op I too wanted to be at 17 psi on 92, so at the time I added headers to drop boost. I think there was less pulley options at the time.

I see no one has mentioned this, but shouldn't you also take into consideration your elevation when calculating your estimated boost? depending on how far above sea level you are than those estimated numbers won't really match with what you actually see

I ran a 2# lower and 3.0 upper and saw consistent 19.5 pounds on the dynojet.
I ran 93 octane and 16 degrees of timing. Made 631rwhp with factory manifolds in place.
I now have a 2.8 upper pulley with my 2# lower and with long tube headers, I get 21.5 pounds of boost on E85 and 22 degrees of timing, my car now makes 714rwhp.

What kind of mileage do you get w/ the e85 setup?

Normal driving on E85 which includes a few hits I average 9-10 mpg.
Previously on 93 octane I was averaging about 16 mpg.
Really, I am on 93 setup and get between 10-13 depending on how much I get into it. It is a DD, about 10 mile commute each way to work. I want to go to E85 but there are no stations here.
