Sooooo.... it’s been a while since I was on this site, but wanted to post an update of some additional findings during my search....

Literally for years now, I’ve researched my freaking head off and googled the internet so hard, I’m surprised it has any google left... Years ago I had reached out to Ford directly via email, also reached out to SVT and I’ve posted on numerous Ford Mustang forums seeking info not only about my Cobra, but the whereabouts of the 1994 SVT builds 0001-0012. The response from Ford was they told me how I could get the SVT Cert (already knew that) and had no other info to offer. SVT pretty much gave me the same type of response.

I had started keeping a log of every 94 Cobra I came across online in forums, on eBay, in car ads, etc. I’ve documented 1994 VINs and SVT build numbers (where and when present). I had even reached out to Bob Lyons who had the original 1993 SVT Cobra Registry and joined the 1993 Cobra forum inquiring to no avail. Heck, I even posted on (2) Saleen sites and SVO sites just to see if anyone there was able to help.

In my log of over (252) 1994 Cobras, I had located SVT # 0008 in Georgia and it was a Cobra Pace Car.

SVT Build #0014 was another Cobra Pace Car, but this one has been confirmed as a total loss wreck.

I also located the 1995 Cobra R prototype in Michigan, which was built from a 1994 Cobra (VIN 1FALP42D6RF113158 and is only 1 of 3 prototypes built by Jack Roush).

My questions I’ve been seeking answers to and need help getting the answers:

1) Where are the 94 SVT Builds 0001-0007 and 0009-0012 - are they still in existence today, if so what States do they reside in and in what condition?

2) The 94 Cobra Pace Cars (VIN 45D) are separate from the 94 Cobra Coupe (VIN 42D) production. With this in mind, is mine one of the (or the) lowest surviving 94 Cobra Coupe? I ask this because from what I can tell and have seen over the years, I’ve not found and no one has ever posted anything online about SVT Builds 0001-0012, ever. I even have Tom Schreiner’s and Pete Sessler’s SVT Mustang Cobra Recognition Guide (1993-2000) that was published in 1999 and again, no mention of any other info or data for any early build 1994’s... I also have a slew of other Mustang books, again very sparse info about the SN95 Cobras or early production info.

3) How or where can I get a copy of the original window sticker (or replica)?

4) Is it common that such a low build number from a limited production run is sold to the public?

My Cobra is numbers matching from front to rear. It retains all VIN decals on all body panels. It retains the original drivetrain and has the BUC tag affixed to the rad support. Not only is it SVT Certification #0013, but my VIN is also the lowest I’ve ever seen (to date) and it’s even a lower VIN by 14,000+ consecutive units than that of previously mentioned 1994 SVT Cobra Pace Build 0008 (158053) mentioned above. My BUC tag has a Mo/Day of 0124 and the B-pillar VCL is 01/94. The SVT Cert has a Build Date as 03/04/1994 at the Dearborn Assembly Plant.

If ANYONE has any Ford Contacts, SVT Contacts or any information at all about the early 1994 Cobras for me, please do feel free to pass along my “quest” and/or have them contact me via this site.

I’m determined to find more info about my 94 and the whereabouts of #’s 0001-0007 and 0009-0012.

Here’s # 0013 still looking good even after hitting its 25 Year Milestone!

Wow, this is an awesome thread, thanks for sending me a link. I own 1996 SVT Cobra #11. I have created a Facebook group for owners of SVT Cobra's with a build number under 100, as well as a Facebook page for my car. Both are linked below.

Nice thread. I actually had a 2000 Mystic Gold Cobra on order before Ford cancelled the 00s so they could fix the 99s. It was during that time I joined this forum. In a way, I got lucky. Ford offered me a deal on my 01 to make up for the cancelled order, which was not common back in those days. My build number of 42 reflects how early my 01 order was placed. I've always wondered how many of my year is left on the road.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

Just a small bump to see if there’s anyone within the SVT World or Ford who can shed some light on the early 1994 SVT Cobra builds...?

I read through the thread and don't mix or compare the coupes to the Pace Cars. They went down the same assembly line in regards to VIN but the production numbers do not correlate to each other in any way. Like #10 Pace Car could be thousands of cars behind yours.

Good luck in your quest.

Ok, I have done some sluthing and found the 1996 VIN's that were preduced before my #11 car. I found them at vin-db.com (see full link below). you can modify it with the known numbers from your VIN to get a list. Make sure you view every check digit. From there I looked at each of them in CARFAX (not a full report just a search) if it comes back as 0 records that VIN was never issued. I took the issued VIN's and ran reports at vin-db.com. Did it there because you can get them a ton cheaper than CARFAX, I think it was 4 for $20. I found that 6 may still exist and the others were scrapped. I put a post up looking for those specific VIN's. Hope this helps you find the cars you are looking for.

Interesting info, but not quite sure I’m following. I also don’t see a “full link below”, unless you’re referring to the site name?

I did go to the suggested site, but it looks like you can only plug 1 VIN at a time - is that how you were doing your research?

I have a very serious question, of which I have not been able to answer or ever find out any info...

The 1994 Cobra production run - does anyone have or know of the whereabouts of SVT build #'s 0001-0012? These SVT's had to have a very early build month and date of possibly around January 1994. I have searched online for quite some time using multiple forum threads, eBay, craigslist and numerous for sale ads, and I've yet to locate or find those vehicles.

Does anyone also know which 1994 Cobras were used in any Ford promotional material and if those cars survived or were they destroyed (not sold to the public)?

You all may be wondering why I'm asking.

I'm the 2nd owner of my Cobra and it was bone stock when purchased years ago. The car had and has no issues when I bought it or even now. I always knew the actual SVT build number had to be low, based on my VCL decal's month/year build date AND the fact that my actual VIN # is extremely low when comparing to any/all other 1994 Cobras I've been able to find online, etc.

I've also owned a prior 1996 Cobra, prior to my 94. I did the whole "SVT Certificate thing" when I owned that Cobra, so when I bought my 94 years ago, I never really had any interest in obtaining it's SVT Certificate and already knew all about the car and it's "uniqueness".

Fast forward to last year... Out of curiosity, I finally decided to call the 1-800 number for Ford to see what my 94 Cobra's actual SVT Build number was.... I gave the Ford Rep my VIN and upon him looking up the info, he came back and said "Your Cobra is SVT Build # 0013". I thought I was not hearing correctly and asked him to repeat, in which he said the same thing, "13" as in, 0013. Needless to say, I was not only surprised, but at the same time, being around Mustangs and owning MANY over the years, I already thought it's build # was low based on my VIN & VCL decal, but I NEVER thought it was within the first 15 built, or even first 100.

Now, ever since finding out my build #, as stated above, I've been unable to locate #'s 0001-0012, therefore as far as I know, my Cobra is the lowest production 94 Cobra in existence. This is why I'm on the search for the others.

If anyone has any info, or could even supply me with any other info they may know about my Cobra, that would be awesome.

My Cobra's VCL build date is: January 1994
Actual Assembly line build from BUC tag: January 24, 1994
Last (6) of my VIN: 144409
Confirmed SVT Production #: 0013
Rio Red over Black

(note: I'm not new to Mustang forums, or Mustang ownership even though I'm a new user here....) :)

I'm new 2 this forum and just recently bought my first SVT Cobra. I have read a lot abt these fine machines in the last couple of days and I seem to remember that I read that # 1&2 was kept inhouse at Ford and not sold. Please correct me if I'm mistaking =)

Still searching for historical data as outlined in Post #1 and Post #22 which contains an update. If anyone has Ford or SVT connections, please post up in this thread.

It seems there’s more correlated data for the 1993 Cobras than any SVT Cobra built after 1993.

I’ve even registered my Cobra and sent email here - Mustang Cobra Registry
again to no avail...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can add input or facts for the 1994 Cobras (and bumping this thread to keep it alive).

I have been researching the various Indy 500 Pace Cars for an upcoming book and have access to a law enforcement/insurance database to find info on cars. For the years 1990 to date I have most of the VINs of the cars used at the track as Festival or Track cars, as well as those sent to dealers. There were assignment sheets each year to show to whom a specific car was assigned. I would love to find the 1994 sheet, though I do have the information. Ford sent Mustang GTs (NOT Cobras) to Roush to convert to be used as Pace Cars, mainly because they were automatic shift. These had the Cobra bumpers installed for the race. Over 100 Mustang GTs were used as Festival and Track cars for the race period-there were no Cobras at the track as far as I can tell.

I have been able to compile the VIN and Build info as well as the Cobra number of 976 out of the 1000 Cobra converts made. The first two cars were made March 4 (#4 and #5) while cars #1, 2, 6 were made March 5. Twenty cars were made March 7, Twenty Four on March 8, with the last group made April 16. I am missing the last six of the VIN for the following cars:

114
627
666
667
668
669
670
671
696

978
979
980
981
987
988
996
997
998
999

Anyone have any info on these? I just need the last six digits of the VIN and I may be able to locate the rest of them. Thanks

Interesting info. Somewhere I have a compilation of the 1994 Cobra VINs, I’ll have to search for it, as I had it on a HD from a prior machine. I think I have the data on a USB stick from that HD, but can’t guarantee it since it’s been quite a while. I’ll look though.

Are you also aware of the (5) 1994 PPG Pace Cars?
Ford Mustang Cobra (Red) – 1994 PPG Pace Car – PPG Pace Cars

I also have my personal list of 1994 SVT Cobras I have documented over the years as I come across them. It’s on my laptop. I can look up to see if I have any hits for the above SVT #’s you’re seeking the VINs.

Not sure if you read this thread from the start, but I had come across 1994 Pace Cars # 8 (still in existence and last known to be in Georgia) and #14 (which was documented on another site as being a total loss wreck years ago). When I reference the Pace Cars, I am referring to the true 94 Pace Car from the 1,000 built in 1994, not the “GT” Festival cars.

If your comments are correct and are for the true 1994 Pace Cars, is your # reference of 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 the “SVT” Certificate numbers? If so, that means you have covered some of the questions I have been seeking about the 1994 SVT #’s 1-7 (your grouping missing #3 and #7). Do you know by your accumulated info if 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 are still registered vehicles today? Not looking for personal info, but a “yes” or “no” and if still in the US?

This new information would also mean that as of now, my 94 SVT Cobra is still the lowest surviving documented Coupe by SVT Certification (UNLESS, SVT #’s 3, 7 and 9-12 can be confirmed to be either a coupe or one of the Pace Cars AND still registered).

I'm in the same boat. Having build #2 (03 cobra convertable) I was hoping to try and figure out where the 1st car is.

Popping this back up - it's a new year, hoping someone can help me or lead me to someone "in the know" about the 1994 Cobra production run and the early built cars. Still searching for historical data as outlined in Post #1 and Post #22 which contains an update. If anyone has Ford or SVT connections, please post up in this thread.

I've come across a 1994 Cobra VIN listing in my travels. I've tried googling (4) VINs from that list of VINs that were before mine and there's absolutely no hits anywhere on the web for those.

So to date, I still have the lowest surviving 1994 Cobra Coupe by VIN and by Certified SVT Build number.

I am still researching the 1994 Cobra Pace Car Replicas as well. Out of the 1000 Replicas I have found 977/ Need the last six digits of the V(Ns for these numbered cars: (I am betting if I had just one I could find the others).
