1981 convertible Mustang

I have in storage a 1981 Convertible mustang that I swear I can remember by father telling me that it was a prototype when he got it. I could be wrong, so how can I check to see what it is? VIN info to Ford?

Any help would be great!

Jim

A Marti report will help give a little break down of options.

I agree with flatrack I saw several mistakes on this list sounds like a Saleen enthusiast made this list. Nothing wrong with Saleens just a little heavy in this list.

You have forgotten of the SAAC cars from 91-93, the 93 SAAC Snake is 9 produced in 93, and the total of the SAAC cars were ~35/36 for all the run

This was a copy and paste from somewhere I found on the web, not saying it's 100% accurate.

The SAAC Mustangs are very rare for a production made vehicle.
Here's the breakdown of SAAC Mustangs by model;

SAAC MKI = 36
SAAC MKII = 15
SAAC Snake = 11

That's not a breakdown by year as each model was built over a 2 year period from '91 to '93.

#53 should be Fox Body Saleen Convertible with only 478 total Saleen convertibles produced during the Fox Saleen Era (84-93) out of a total of 2703 cars produced.

I make it to a couple. I try to get to Essenhaus once or twice a year, I also make it to the Crossroads Cruise-In every year. I was thinking of joining the local Mustang Club, they approached me while I was driving my 66 GT early this Summer (I sold it), just haven't filled out the paperwork yet.
