Cool, thanks. I did remove some of the coolant from the tank and re-sealed it. Then I filled it from the CC plug but it did not take much at all--just a few ounces as I squeezed the upper rad. hose to help get any air out. So it may be good now. I cycled it after that yesterday with the heater on so I'll check it today like you described and see if it needs any more.Correct!
Coolant will expand and in a V8 car there is a lot of coolant to expand.
Leave about two inches in the rad tank, seal it, then fill the rest through the crossover.
Then check it cold after the next three or four drive cycles at the burp plug, after relieving the rad cap pressure but RESEALING IT PRIOR TO removing the burp cap.
It just seems different that the system wouldn't suck the necessary coolant from the tank vs. having to fill it in the CC tube. I guess this all has to do with trapped air so I'm ssuming once that is out, the level can be checked from the tank? I think the small hole that I have drilled into the t-stat helped with bleeding the air out of the system quickly.
