Around 500 is what I was guessing.
He will be going from a 240 rwhp 2v to this. A better blower would be too much of a jump I think. (Not to mention a big chunk of $) He can drive it with the stock blower for a few years and if he wants more power then he can upgrade down the road.
I'm going...
I recently purchased an 03 termi engine complete. Came with a 2.75 pulley and a belt wrap pulley but otherwise stock. Plan is to tear it down, rebuild it with some upgrades and put it into my sons 03 GT auto.(auto is already built to take power but will have to upgrade to a multi clutch...
I understand about the boost/charge temp sensor. No way to wire that in since the gt pcm never used it. I think there is a stand alone knock sensor system I can get and wire into the pcm. I think with the alternator i might just have to switch 2 wires around like the coils?
For the intercooler...
I just purchased an 04 terminator complete engine (pan to blower, accessories, harnesses) that I'm going to rebuild and then swap into my sons 03 GT auto but have a few questions.
Since his car is auto I'm going to have to use his engine/trans harness and PCM. I know I have to extend the coil...
I built the 4r70w in my car using one of their kits, some other stronger aftermarket internals and cryo hardening all internals. Great kit they sell. If they build your trans you shouldn't have any problems. Just a hint....they have great sales for black friday.
Well you know your goal. Time to start making a list of the parts you will need to get there. Obviously time to start saving up $ as well. Also start looking around in your area and talking to people. Find out about good local tuners, performance shops and engine builders. You will eventually...
Just remember, whatever you do to the car, you will be lucky to get back $0.25 on the dollar if you eventually sell the car.
I bought my 04 3 years ago and it came with about $8.5k in aftermarket parts installed including a vortech and I only paid $8900.
What you need to start with is a budget. How much are you willing to spend total? That will decide how much power you can build reliably.
My bottom end is going to cost about $3300 which includes the cost of the block that I purchased about 2 years ago, used and new internals, machine work...
I'm going to have my teksid block built soon with a used terminator crank and rods with new diamond pistons. Should be good to hold 800hp and I think it was the cheapest way I could do it. My goal will only be 500 rwhp though.
You might want to look into doing something similar and save some...
