For me (not in used car business) -
Low miles salvage engine starts at $7500.
Crate long block starts at $7000.
Used 2016 GT in my area start at a little under $20,000.
So, if I were looking at a 2016 GT with blown engine for around $12,000, I would be better off looking at one with good...
My research suggests the change to steel on the GT was for strength. Apparently the aluminum version was thought to be too weak for 435 horsepower. I would think putting the aluminum pumpkin behind 700 horsepower would not end well.
