i have a 87 mustang and it only registeres 85 and i bought 140 white gauge overlay but how do i get the needle to read the right speed im going?

i ordered some sierra gears off of internet and i heard that they may whine when i put them in and i was just wondering if ya'll thought they would whine or not they are sierra performance 3.73s
