  • I want to get the car looked at to see if there is something going on that shouldn't be with the alternator or battery. It is running okay for now, and I need to get my transmission looked at first. I'll most likely pick up a spare alternator though in a month or two just to have as a spare. Not sure if I want to spend the coin on a Nations alternator, or go with a PA alternator. I already have upgraded power cables coming off the battery.
I have a touchscreen radio in my car, and it has a screen with gauges, one of which is a voltage gauge. I don't know if it is accurate or not, but it seems like it is. My voltage starts out at 14.1 or 14.2 (new battery), and while driving it slowly drops to around 13.7 if I'm cruising on the highway. In stop and go traffic, it will go down to 13.0 - 13.4. I know the alternators on these cars are notorious for going bad, and I don't know if the voltage dropping down to 13.0 is normal nor not. I know it is supposed to drop some, and my alternator does seem to charging the battery because when I leave the car alone for awhile, it starts up just fine and reads 14.2.
