If you don’t push that newly built motor to its limit, you should be fine. If it’s an aluminum block car, I’d sleeve it while the motor is out. I think it’s around 1800 to do. Sleeves, rods, pistons, head studs, bearings, etc should put you around 5k if you wheel and deal for pricing.
Good...
These are my thoughts currently. He needs a full fuel system to turn the wick up. But I don’t think his motor will handle everything that blower can dish out. I watched him lose by a car to a 650whp V the other night. Not impressed with his car so far.
Conversely, I ran away from an 800whp TT...
Hey guys, I got a local buddy who’s been chasing me ever since I bought my car two years ago. He finally got a new blower, gen II 3.4 Whipple, and I’m curious. How do you think it will go, in a roll race scenario? Here’s the specs:
12 GT500 - stock motor, 3.73, VMP TVS gen 1, long tubes, fuel...
I've "beat up" on several other Shelbys and Cobras with massive blowers. Just depends on the setup. Takes a lot more engine power to crank those big KB and Whipple blowers. At that point, I'd rather have a turbo setup instead of taking on that much parasitic loss.
Interested to see real world results. I'm going to finally ditch my gen I VMP this winter and go Gen 3. I've made 775/830trq through some radials on the gen I. With rods and pistons, I'm gonna be looking for 9-950 with the 2650.
For those considering the 4.0 Whipple, it takes a lot of engine...
Interesting situation. I contemplated both a GT500 and an S550 and ended up with a 12 Shelby with a VMP TVS. I couldn't be happier with the car and coming from the garbage T56 in a Cobra, I was thrilled with the 6060. I have a Barton shifter and an RST with Motul fluid and it shifts like butter...
Badass swap but **** that blower. Needs a TVS or it will get drug by quite a few better set up cars. 4.0 whipple isn't effective on the street. All depends on what you want to do with it. Very nice swap.
I have had about 30 cars in 16 years, and i can honestly say I hope to keep my 2012 forever but it is still just a thing. If i could pass it down to my son one day though, that wold be badass. Make sure he smashes all his little friends Hondas. By that point though, an 800whp car may be a turd
