I think the nitrous came into play for the demise of this motor. I have the receipts for almost all of the other work the previous owners did...

I made some good progress on the engine. I checked all clearances, ring gap, crank end play, and got the freeze/oil galley plugs...

Sorry for the delay in posting, been collecting parts, waiting for the machine shop, and restoring/modifying some things.
Over the past few months, I have:
-Cleaned up the heads prior to dropping them off at the machinist
-Sandblasted/hand sanded and painted the valve...
I'm going to be replacing the ignition cylinder and keys as I lost the original keys that came with my cobra and had to remove the stock ignition cylinder. Am I going to have to worry about any PATS issues? I've heard that I can just disconnect power for about 10 mins and potentially have PATS...
Oh that's interesting... no wonder they did a free upgrade to the Manley rods. I'd called about swapping to the Manley rods and was told that the 4.6 MMR rods were on "indefinite backorder." Wonder if they're permanently discontinued.
Honestly, I'm not planning on going with any forced induction, so I won't be even at 500hp likely.
Hopefully they're quality and they do last, I just could not find enough on them to feel 100% confident. For me, it's worth the extra money to go with the Manley rods, but for what I'm doing the...
Appreciate the heads up, everyone. I'm rebuilding a 97 cobra, and originally purchased the MMR connecting rods, but after this thread, I called and swapped to Manley.
I'm going to be installing 106300's in my '97 Cobra as well. Did you measure your piston to valve clearance? Did you have to do any modifications to the cam girdles, or do they fit and rotate without hitting?

First post here! I bought a '97 Cobra back in '14, when I was 18. I bought it with high miles (140k) and quite a few aftermarket mods done to it. The motor was stock, so it didn't live for long after I bought it. I had it for about 2 months and then it developed a really bad rod knock...
