Bent Pinchweld: To repair or not?

Took the car to a tire shop to repair a nail in my tire and the jack they used to jack up the car bent my pristine pinchwelds :nonono::fm:

So I wanted to know should I straighten this out?

Bending metal back and forth will weaken it so I don't know if I should just leave it. The reason I want to straighten it back out is because the sn95 cobras side skirts are attached by plastic clips to this pinchweld and a few plastic clips broke off and my side skirt is kind of tweeked underneath.

Whats your opinions or experience with this? Any recommendations on how to straighten it out? Vise-grips, dolley/hammer....?

If it's making your sideskirts tweaked I'd fix it. I'd have the shop compensate me or have them repair the damage by a body shop, they obviously did damage.

vice grips, shouldn hurt it but check the welds after

+1 to Vice grips. Mine are completely flattened against the side skirt- it was like that when I bought it. I'm guessing from speed bumps or retards that can't jack up a car. It isn't hurting anything, but then again it didn't warp the side skirts.. You wouldn't know they were messed up if you didn't look under the car.

yeah, NTB replacing one tire under warrenty got mine, lazy sob kicked one arm of a 4 arm 2 post lift under the car and lifted..... found it a week later when putting it in the air.....

i never bothered to fix it though, mine bent away from the sideskirt, no clips lost....

in the shops case, thier going to say ''how do we know it wasnt already like that before '' ive been in these shoes before lol..

The shop was cool about it. They helped straighten it out as best they could. I'll be sanding it down and spraying some rust preventative. They got me new plastic clips too.

They aren't perfect but straight enough to hold the side skirt.

Thanks for the input yall. Let this be a heads up for anyone that those spots bend reallllly easily.

Yeah you can only lift by them if you use all 4 at once.. and then only if none are damaged beyond being able to contact a lift pad properly. I see these a LOT that are messed up right where someone would put a jack..

I had to chew some arse at the local sears because they started to put mine up on the two fronts. I threatened them with having to pay for full bodywork if anything happened because I know and have pictures to prove my pinchwelds are not damaged, plus doing that is a great way to break a lift arm and wear out the posts, as it unevenly loads the carriages causing them to bind and rub the main lift posts. Usually you'll see paint rubbed off the front of the posts along with some metal if a place does this a lot...

What scares me the most is the "qualifications" of a lot of people in shops. Some of these people are dumb as shit. WTF are they doing working on cars. :nonono:

I guess real qualified techs are to expensive. :shrug:
