Forging the 5.0???

Anyone know if anyones got a forged rotating assembly kit out yet for the 5.0? I'm looking to lower the CR to 10:1 I think would be perfect for what I have in mind for the project. If not then just a stock CR forging kit will work well to. Any news would be great

hope it comes soon lol been pinching pennys for 5 years saving up to start my pegasus project and now that they brought out a 4v 5.0 6spd im thinking it cant get to much better then that so good time to start it lol

on the firefox thing i had google chrome on it sapose could try it.. just gota break cisco again so it lets install lol Human resources here i come lol again.

i was told someone was making a 347 kit for it forget who
there is absolutely NO WAY to get 347cu in out of this block. possibly 306 or something from a very slight overbore, but you are NOT going to get any more bore OR stroke out of this block. there just isn't enough cylinder/material there.

lol dont really need all that just want to change the CR and forge it up.

ok i understand the ob part but what exactly is keeping them from stroking?

to make room for the small stroke increase over the 4.6l, the 5.0l block has extended cylinder sleeves(so that the pistons aren't popping out of the bores). ford engineers have already said(in the 5.0 mag interview i believe) that the 4.6l cobra rods just barely fit without clearancing. the piston skirts are a little 'abreviated' as well, and just have enough clearance for the crankshaft counterweights.
you could possibly get a custom crank made, but balancing might be a bit of an issue with lower profile counterweights(someone correct me if i'm wrong). even at that, you still won't be able to get much more stroke out of it.

I thought this was a brand new block design and not an upgraded 4.6l block?
the V-angle, bore spacing, and deck height all had to stay the same, because the execs wanted to save money by producing this engine on the same line as all other modular engines(4.6/5.4/6.8). by keeping all of these dimensions the same, the block can be machined by the same machines that ford is already using, they don't need to spend cash on new machinery. technically, this also makes the coyote a modular motor, since the "modular" name refers to the fact that multiple engines can be produced on the same line.
besides these dimensions though, the block is 100% clean sheet. the oiling system and the cooling system are completely different from the 1st gen of mod motors. technically, i guess the coyote is a 4.6l-clean sheet hybrid of sorts, lol.

so even with stroker pistons and clearence to the sleeves a stroke is not possible? thats kinda disapointing. Wonder how much thats going to limit power output on a fully built setup

When you stroke an engine, you are just trading RPM for displacement anyways. The lack of a stroking option really won't limit power at all, as you will be able to push the revs more on the smaller motor. Based on what we are seeing, you will still be able to build a 500+rwhp NA motor without going crazy.
If you want huge numbers you are going to have to go FI anyways.

Shoot anyone can send a spec sheet in to any of the rod and piston manufacturers and get a set of stock sized forged pistons and rods for a decent price. Most places will be about $120-150 per rod and piston for one offs.

No need to change the crank, its already done. :D

As for a 347, yeah not going to happen. :)

Now you can still pay someone like Roush to put in a Darton sleeve kit to the tune of a 3.70" bore and bump the cubes up to a 314ci using the stock stroke of 3.650"

Now if someone can manage to get a 3.75" stroke crank in there with the Darton Sleeves then we are talking 323ci.

At the efficiency that this motor is running a stock tuned, stock everything 323ci would make 441hp at the flywheel based off of math alone so its a round figure. Real world figures will of course vary.
