Sorry it took me soo long! I had this written up and saved someone on my computer and then I completely forgot about it! I will make a separate write up that will include the complete removal of the motor, since I greatly recommend it for doing the head swap.

Parts Required:

-C-Heads
-99/01 Cobra Intake or 03/04 Mach 1 Intake Manifold
-Air Inlet tubing from an 99/01 Cobra or Mach 1
-Crossover tube from a B-head or C-headed car will work..will specify the modifications necessary later in this post
-Throttle Cable
-Throttle Cable Bracket
-Cruise Control Cable [if you want to retain that]
-Alternator Bracket

Modifications Required:

Now lets address the Fuel Rail issue.

the stock 96-98 fuel rails may be retained. You have to cut off ATLEAST two of the stock brackets [they aren't as flimsy and easy as they first appear..I had a fun//dangerous time taking them off]. Then you can either cut and weld the brackets on a different way to make it mount to the new locations for the new intake manifold.

Another solution to this problem, is purchasing aftermarket fuel rails for our cars [return-style], but getting them with the 99/01 Cobra brackets.

Knock Sensors

-Delete them. I just left them unplugged and then cut out the plastic pieces on it for the intake manifold to clear and fit into the valley. I just had my knock sensors turned off in the tune.

Coolant Crossover Tube

96-98 Crossover
-You have to cut and move the mounting bracket tabs.

99-04 Crossover
-It will bolt right in..but you will have to weld in an extra bung for the extra water temperature sensor that our engine harnesses have.

IAT Sensor

-Also, the IAT will need to be cut, spliced, and extended....since the IAC is located on the OTHER side of the intake manifold..this will be necessary..its fairly straight forward...even I managed to pull this off.

As for EGR and SAI... I can't put in my word for them...I just completely removed the system instead of trying to figure out how it all hooks up and whatnot.

I will update this with more detailed pictures.

Until then... end result.

Thank you very helpful. I am very curious as to why you remove the knock sensors. If I am correct this is a very helpful safety feature because if the sensors detect detonation the computer pulls timing.

The knock sensors pull timing on every tiny noise or vibration that may not be ping related. What I've found is that 80-90% of the time you drive hard, the knock sensors are pulling timing.

If the 03-04 Cobras do not come with knock sensors, I think the 96-01's can fare well without them as well.

Simple..it won't fit anymore.

03-04 cobras come boosted without knock sensors...and I have had no issues..as well as others

I think they ended up being corrected to 371rwhp and that was with 3.27s ...but however it puts down a decent amount of power regardless of what anyone has said.

w/ stock gears, shifter, and weighing 300 lbs more..she still was pulling 114mph trap speeds.

coolant crossover tube

Hi- I have done this same mod and see that you have encountered the same hood rubbing issue (it really is cosmetic from what I can tell). I have been running a rebracketed 97 crossover tube and it develops leaks when I run it at a track like VIR for extended periods. I just bought a 99 tube and will be welding in a new bung to see if that does the trick. Have you had any coolant leaks with the setup you have? It looks like you are using the 99.

Oh darn..wish you hadn't had bought that already! I'm thinking about selling my 01 coolant crossover..which already has the extra bung welded for ya!

I encountered absolutely no issues with coolant leaks on my crossover...I'm just wanting to remove it and go with stainless steel hoses and AN fittings instead of the crossover.

I know what you mean about wanting to replace it. I did consider the stainless as well but couldn't tell if I could get a fitting down in the opening. I know Moroso has that new waterneck part but it has two attachment points. I am trying to get ready for a track meet in two weeks so I will probably go ahead and get the bung welded in.
