just for the record, your stock flywheel is aluminum - your choice of aluminum versus steel should be based on what you plan to do with the car. concur with recommendation, do a search, topic has been discussed alot with alot of good info.

i got a vert yes weights 3660 w/1/4 tank of gas w/ no driver, with SRA i weight appx 170 lbs so with full tank of gas luggage and wife well over 4100 lbs.

and i not an every day drag racer. i think the steel one is for me. would rev up that quick like alum one.or blow the tires off at will .

I went with Steel with my Spec 3+ and after 1k miles, it drives 100% perfect, no chatter, light pedal, just awesome.

A heavy flywheel will only benefit the car leaving the line until the clutch locks with the flywheel. From that point on a heavy flywheel will be nothing but a drag on the engine and will reduce hp. The Terminator has a boatload of low end and doesn't need a heavy flywheel.

What is the weight difference between the aluminum and steel flywheel?

I just bought the Fidanza aluminum one.

Eventually I will get around to reducing the weight on my car by a couple of hundred pounds. easy weight loss including the exhaust mid pipe and catback, battery switch to dry cell. then, some other things like UPR K, aluminum shortblock, etc.

I am just curious. I had considered the steel one as I always thought it was strange how my car with so much power had to rev a little to get going, but I read that the aluminum allows is to put more power to the ground, whereas the steel soaks it up a little. anyone know the weight difference?

The stk one weighs 12-15lbs the forged steel is 25lbs, I did a swap and a steel one will take more of a beatn longer life, and u can replace the disk on it instead of the whole flywheel, you cant with aluminum. I hear with high HP alum ones can brake. Mine is a fidanza fly forged steel and its great you wont notice no differance. IMO these motors will have no problem spining a heavyer flywheel.

I agree with most of what you said, except the are I highlighted. Most aftermarket aluminum flywheels (like Fidanza, for example) have the replaceable steel friction surface, so that is a non-issue.;-)

I have the Ford Racing Steel flywheel (33LBS) and love it for daily driving ,so much less RPM to get moving, less chatter less sliping the clutch to get moving.
