...I saw a story about a 14 year old kid needing a heart transplant. I was in Lenexa KS watching this if anyone wants to look it up. Anywho the story plays and the kid needs half a million for the transplant. There are people trying to help raise money by selling art and other things that are worth something for this kid. They even show his mom get up and give a speech about everyone helping and why people need to help.

Then the news anchor drops a bomb and states that this 14 year old kid who is raising half a mill is here illegally.....

Yep he and his family are illegal aliens... People are selling things and raising all this money for a illegal alien. The hospital also stated they are still helping him with other things even though the kid is broke and is not a U.S. citizen.

What confuses me most about this is that everybody knows he is here illegally and nobody has come and hauled the kid and his family away.

Part of me feels like I'm being some heartless person and then the other half feels like this kid and his family need to GTFO.

I cannot in good conscience help someone who is breaking the law. He should be sent back home and let his 'home' country help him out.

what if it was your 14 year old son. would you reject the money?

edit + add**

thought about this for a second. it says alot about people and a community when they can look past ethnicity, or legality and simply help a child who needs help. doesnt appear they are tapping into your tax dollars, or mine. seems they are comming together and selling personal items to raise enough money to help a child.

the help they recieve is one reason why they chose, and you live in the greatest country on planet earth.

I wouldn't turn down the cash but on the same hand I wouldn't be somewhere I'm not supposed to be. I did include the kid in my prayers and hopefully he will get his transplant but a part of me still feels wherever he came from needs to be helping also.

How is someone donating private funds affecting you? Theyre NOT taking your tax dollars to help this kid out. So because this kid is illegal, people who are willing to donate shouldnt? Should this kid be living in the US? No. Should he be able to recieve money from people who want to donate it? Yes.

A donation is a donation. Its not required. If someone wants to help this kid out, why shouldnt they be able to help him out?

I think the point of this was that this is very public and you don't see our gov't doing its job and deporting them.

I have no rpoblem with people helping the kid, but they can help him in Mexico.

It's already painfully obvious that nobody gives a flying **** anymore that our country is being invaded and they're just letting it happen. I really wouldn't be surprised if we merged sometimes in the near future with Mexico.

hmmm . . . The North American Union ? sounds catchy.

The point of this whole thing is going right over your head. It's AWESOME that people want to donate their money and help this kid out...but the family doesn't have to stay in America in order to receive the donations, do they? Their status as illegal aliens has been handed to the government on a silver platter, and yet, they're still here. Why is that?

Let's just help them all out and bankrupt this country right now. **** working for your health care and paying taxes.

i must have missed the part where the article stated that tax dollars were at work here.

lol at the people wanting to use this story to promote border security.

Maybe not specifically for this...but I'd be pretty certain the kid was and will be attending public school. School+bus rides equals tax dollars. If he's not attending school...even more of a reason to deport them. They drive on our roads=TAX DOLLARS, I'm sure I can go on and on with basic stuff that they are likely to use. Point is, it's pretty impossible to be here and not in some way shape or form use tax dollars.

And outlaw, don't give me "what if" it was my kid. Fact is it's not..my kids are american, and have health insurance among other differences. I can "what if" the day away....that argument just doesn't hold water.

I say patch the kid up and send them home. But they won't...because the government and the majority of the people in office don't give a piss about this country anymore. I'm not a closed border guy, but the fact of the matter is, to be here illegally is ILLEGAL, a crime, and until that changes, the people in power should enforce the ****ing law. Until they put the "My 14yr old needs a heart" clause, it will continue to be illegal for them to be here. Has nothing to do with border security, IMO it's about picking and choosing when we want to actually follow the law, and when we just ignore it.
