Okay guys I know this has been covered, but I searched and couldn't find anything.

Here's the question. What midpipes will fit on a 96-98 Cobra.

96-98 GT?
99-04 GT?
99-01 Cobra?
03-04 Cobra?

I think there is lots of confusion on this subject. Please help clear this up for me!

I have a 98 Cobra, I gave my old full-length UPR x-pipe to my buddy and we bolted it straight up to his '04 GT.

Therefore, 96-98 Cobra/GT(I assume) will fit 99-04 GT's but not sure of the '03-'04 Cobra's.

I bought my 96 cobra with no cats, i'm running the stock catted H pipe off of an 03-04 mach1... I just had to grind the driver's side manifold flange bolt holes...

Subscribing...

I am going to pick up a BBK H-pipe for a 96-98 cobra this weekend.

I am fairly certain that the BBK H is a 1-piece design which should make installation a little more difficult.

I like the ones that break down at one of the pipes like the MAC Prochamber.

BBk H pipe is all one piece but I had no issue installing it. IF you have an extra jack or jack stand it helps so you can get the pipe to sit nice and high hugging close to the floorboard so you dont have an issue with it hangin low. Put it on and tighten it up a little than use the jack to get it to the right height and wrench it on nice and tight

I know my magnaflow catted X fit on a 96....the difference was the brace in the middle and O2 bung position. That's it....just had to cut it off. I got it from a guy with a 96 saleen.

I don't think that the one for the 96-98 GT will fit due to the flanges, but I am not positive.

The 99-04 Mustangs mid-pipes are all inter-changeable, The 96-98 GT mid-pipe will bolt on to a Cobra and vise-versa but the rear O2 bungs are in a different location. Iirc the Gt 02 bungs were right underneath the trans cross-member on my Cobra.

FWIW I have a pypes o/r X and I hate how low it hangs. I must admit it is not the right year for my car (its for a 96-97 cobra and my car is a 98)

mine sits up pretty high, maybe you could try loosening the manifold bolts and playing with it a little.

I have a semi complete Stainless Works system from Headers to flow tubes from an 03-04 Cobra on my 98 Cobra. The headers fit like a champ, as did everything else. Only difference was the hanger plate in the center of the stock piping. It doesn't exist on the 99+ cars. No big deal though.

Uuuuuuuuuuugh.... super jelous here.

I'd love to have a full Stainless Works system, but like $2,000 is way more than I could ever think about paying for an exhaust peice without feeling sick to my stomach.
