Steve Powell helped me get organized and order the parts for my stock front end on my 2006 GT to be converted to a GT500 one since I liked the look so much better. I also tracked down and got a Trufiber Venom hood that has the spots for the old style 'twist' hood pins. I ordered the parts in November through Steve, but since it was a 'winter' project, I told the painter I was in no hurry to get it done as long as it would be by spring. Two weeks ago the painter called for it saying he was finally ready to work on it.

He prepped and painted the new front end and hood and then put new 10" white dual stripes on the entire car with a clear coat on top.

The only remaining work needed to be done is to put the 'GT' emblems back on the fenders (when a local dealer gets some in stock); put the front end splitter on when I receive the bolts that are also on order along with the Tri-Bar Pony emblem to go in the front top valence. I will also need to install a windshield wiper spray relocation kit too, but I am waiting on it to arrive as well.

Here it is finished. I still need to spend a day or two cleaning it up, and removing any leftover polishing compound. I didnt take any pictures of it yet, but the painter had the idea of painting the underside of the heat extracters flat black and it looks really cool too. Oh, and we added mud flaps to the rear wheel wells and will be adding those to the front in a week or so too. You cant see them now due to the angle I took the pics from.

Over all, I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, I'm satisfied to about a 12. I was considering (while it was at the painter) continuing the stripes down the rest of the hood, but am now really glad I decided to wait. I highly doubt now that I ever will continue the stripes now as I think this gives the car that much more of an 'attitude'.

I told steve that when I finally finished it, I would post the results here for him to see. Hope you like it. I cant express how happy I am with it. Next on the list to do to it is install new lowering springs as well as shocks and an adjustable panhard bar.

Thanks again steve for all the help.

Damn that looks good!!

Were is your lip?

Waiting on the bolts to be shipped in from out of state. Till then I'm living without it. Same for the emblems on the side and the one that goes in front on the top grill. /shrug Hopefully it wont be too long....I'm hoping the end of the week at worst.

Looks great and I am glad to hear you will not be putting Snake emblems on it. If I were you, I would leave it emblemless.

Why the roush spoiler?

It was one of the very first mods I ever did to the car. I hated the factory one since it actually reduced the ability to see IMO. I debated about switching out to the stock GT500 one, but in the end didnt feel the need. The fact that the Roush one required holes in the rear quarters to mount the edge pieces also ment to change it out, I would have to fill and repaint the rear quarters as well. Which I decided I wasnt going to do.

Actually I will be putting the GT ones back on the sides if for no other reason, I dont want to leave the holes on the fender. I didnt have them filled it....to fix and repaint those correctly would have ment painting the entire fenders again (instead of just blending the tops). At that point, if I did, I'm paying for an almost complete repaint of a 06 mustang with just over 10k of miles on it with absolutely no previous paint problems. That just isnt a smart use of money. Now if somehow paintwork needs to be done at some later date on the sides of the car, I will remove them completely.

Looks awesome....I like the fact that it doesnt have the snake emblems on it. I hate when cars try to be something they are not. Great job, and some wonderful work.

no, I do not plan on putting the snake emblems on it. I was thinking of just returning it to what was on it, the 'GT' emblems, but I do really like the tri-bar pony one in xtreme shows a few posts up. That is exactly the one I am putting on the grill in the front. I am just waiting on it to arrive in the mail, so now seeing that, I'm now considering going that direction.

Yes, lowering it will improve the look even more, I would have to agree. Its all about money. Its now the next mod, but it may be a few months till I can afford to be able to do it. For now, I just want to figure out the badges (whether I will do them at all, and if so which ones), I need to put the wiper sprayer kit on the wipers so I can spray the windshield when I need to, and to add the front splitter on when I receive the bolts to do so. After that, I plan on enjoying it for a few months till I have the cash up for the lowering.

Thanks for all the comments.

Does this front end change require new fenders? I was hoping it was just the bumper covers, and maybe supports.

Looks great btw!!!
