HI Brad,

You can dim the pointers by placing a couple resistors in line on the white pointer wire. If you place 2, 1/4watt, 1000 ohm resistors in parallel on white pointer wire it will dim the pointer LEDs quite a bit. You can get them at radio shack.

Let me know how it goes.

Hey Guys,I have 3 of your revolution 2-1/16'' guages in my 03 Cobra, love them.I and some of the other members on SVTP Forum have wondered if there`s a way to just dim the needles w/o dimming the guage lighting.Any ideas would be great.

Thanks,

Brad

thanks. yeah, an earlier post in this thread mentioned the needles actually do light up. which contradicts what they told me originally and didn't make any sense since they appeared to be so bright.

we used to do the same thing on the lunar's from autometer with the resistors.

ive got the speedhut boost and oil press gauges, same design and everything, my only issue is that i don't have the green face of the gauge light up, just the red? at night i can see the needle but cant see the gauge face at all... any idea what needs to be hooked up? previous owner did the install.

There is a small pigtail with a quick connect that has a small gauge white, and a black wire that goes into a little square box thing that's inline. The white is the 12v. source for the backlighting, and the black is ground. Wire that white to fuse #37, and then you will be able to dim it with the rest of the gauges.

I want some high temp. to put around the wires. To keep the heat down on them.

I wrapped my temp cable with the plastic conduit, approx 5 feet, then wrapped the conduit with high temp electrical tape found at Napa...it was cheap...so far so good, just run the cable up near the tranny and keep it away from the exhaust manifold bracket

Do You have to cut a hole in the dash its self or in the metal? Also I am installing 2 gauges can I connect both white wires and both black wires from both gauges together and connect to the same power and ground point?

Yes, you cut in the dash itself...I grinded a little of the metal too, but it was a tight squeeze either way...and yes you can connect both white wires and both black wires from both gauges together and connect to the same power and ground point, as well as lighting...

Quick question. What did you use to connect the small white wires (and red) with the larger white (and red) wires? I tried using one of the dual splice connectors but the small wires are so small that the insulation does not cut. Did you guys just cut and resplice the wires? Thanks.

I can not get the white plug from the gauge through the hole in the pod. Do I have to make The hole bigger?

Yes, you will need to use a dremel to widen the hole in pods in order to get the plug through. Just be very careful there is not a lot of clearance in some areas so make sure you know where you are cutting before you start.

I still need some help on how to connect the small white/black wires together. cut and splice? (refer to the two posts above).

you can just splice them in with the other lighting wires. Just carefully strip them, and twist the bare copper together with the other wire of the same color, then slip them into one end of a red butt connector and crimp. Then use a single red 18 gage wire from the opposing end to fuse #37, which will allow you to dim the lighting with your other dash lights. All of the blacks can just go to a solid ground screw, somewhere under the dash where there is bare metal for a good contact. If necessary, just drill a hole in one of the metal brackets, and use a self-tapping screw, and a crimp on ring terminal that fits the screw with a washer, and you're done. good luck!

For the small 12v wires:

Can I just splice the wires from both gauges together and then run a wire to the #37 and then ground the black wires the same way?
