:pepper: I know, I know, I am trying to be optimistic. Winter aint even hear, but look in the bright side, Spring time comes right after winter.

Any way, the reason for the post....I sold my 94 cobra almost 2 yrs ago to "Busta" who obisouly has since upgraded. I am going to start looking for a fox, here are my requirements. I am not looking for a garage queen or a 700hp monster by any means. Somthing clean, straight, and has zero MAJOR problems.

Price:

=/<$5500, I'll go as high as $6000, depending on the mods/condition.

Style:

GT Hatch, LX Coupe, prefered, will look at LX Hatches, No VERT's

Condition:

Clean, Straight, daily driving bumps & bruises. No Major motor/electrical/drivetrain/exterior/interior issues. Mileage <100,000 No Rust

Engine Mods:

Any mods, as long as the price is in the right direction for me.

Exhaust:

Full Exhaust is prefered, at lease Mid pipe & Catback

Wheels:

Any wheels, 4 lug is fine, 5 lug is prefered. Anything but stock ponys

Rear:

Gears would be nice, 3.55, 3.73's, but not necessary.

Let me know what you have. Prefer local purchase only.

Good luck man. I'll keep an eye out for you, but finding a clean fox, with under 100k tastefully modded will likely be outside of the price range you specified. There is one for sale locally that meets every requirement you have except for the price, they wan 8k.

I will let you know if I see anything worth looking at though.

I have some photos on my phone, but nothing on the puter. I think it had an exhaust, gears, and some light engine mods (maybe an intake?), it is a red, lowered 93LX hatch, with chrome ponies, and GTS seats. Looks like the carpet and floormats are new as well, plus the rear seat has been deleted. Looked to be very clean, but I haven't driven it, or seen underhood.

Looks to be a pretty clean car with good mods for the price. I see that you were already asking questions about the AC delete. That would be the biggest negative for a daily driver.

When I was younger rolling the windows down was alright, but as I have gotten older I like my AC on a hot day. :lol1:

GL on getting it.

Hardly. The car is clean. Almost all of the clean aero-fox's in my area are in the 6-8k range. Custom or heavily modded jobs with nice paint are usually north of 12.

Great news ... that means my buddies coupe must be worth 10k then

and that coupe we just picked up for $600 is worth about 4k then!! Alsome

Same....I still see nice ones asking over 10-12k. With this economy who knows? I bet you could get them cheaper now.

OK here goes. 5k for a fox body..lets be real here you are not going to get much. Save your money until you can afford a really clean car that has been re-painted and rebuilt or is a very low mile in storage. Do you want to repaint a car and go thru it and still have a 75-100k motor. 5k doesn't even buy you a good watch anymore.

Seriously man, the cars are worth what people will pay for them, and you aren't going to find clean fox's for less than 6 grand. I'm not sure what your hangup is over it, but it's the truth. If you can find him one cheap, in good shape, then that would be fantastic, but I'm doubting you'll be so lucky.

I found a local clean blown notch with a built motor for 8k. I hesitated and it sold in a couple days. Haven't been able to find one even close to as nice for under 10k. I'm right behind you on this one. If any one finds one send him a link.

Good luck in your search.

Matt, Eric Swarr from Swarr Auto told me about an '89 GT (I believe that's right) with 80k original miles on and a few little goodies. It just got a fresh paint job if you're interested give him a ring. I think he wants $6,500 or so it might be worth checking out.

I am just going off my experience in the past 2 years of buying and selling foxes. I sold my 357 aluminum headed lx vert last winter for 4k ... I had 4500 just in the motor. The car/trans/built rear/5 lug swap ... was "free" to the buyer.

Lou makes some good points but if you are buying anything with over 75k on it you might as well plan on re-building the motor anyway. Just because the guy tells you it has something done to the bottom end doesn't garauntee anything. Unless you personally speek to the machine shop that built the motor.

Good luck.

I have owned 30+ Fox Mustangs over the past 15 years or so and have had several that I used as DD's that had 100K-170K miles on them. 5.0 Mustang motors are very tough!

If the car has had proper maintenance there is NO need to have to rebuild the motor at 75K.
